Q: Help!!! Am I Experiencing a Major Withdrawal?

I have recently stopped my anti-depression, anti-anxiety medication -- very suddenly. I felt I no longer needed it. I was on a low dosage, only 10 mg.

Now three days later, I find myself crying for no good reason and getting extremely angry and frustrated over little things. Is this hormones (i'm on the pill as well and due for my period) or is this withdrawal from the medication? I can't tell. :(

if it's withdrawal, what should I do? Should I go back on them because it would signify i'm not better yet? If not, when do the withdrawal effects subside?

If you are crying for no reason and having mood swings you are going through withdrawal. Are you eating nothing or way too much, are you not sleeping or sleeping way too much? Supposedly withdrawal from your anti anxiety will not last for longer than a week, but that's not true. And the antidepressant medication might have been working(you felt like you no longer needed it) so it was probably working for you. How long had you been taking the meds? And how old are you?

I'm almost 22 and I have been on the medication for about 2 months, if that helps. :(

Okay... It's probably not hormones, I was thinking that you might be younger like 14 or 15. And I doubt you'd be having withdrawal symptoms from the anti-anxiety meds, but most are really addictive. Do you drink or use any other drugs(not trying ot be nosey and you don't have to answer). I, right now, am withdrawing big time. I'm off my adderall, and i've stopped drinking again and i've been an alcoholic since I was 18. It's been 3 days and i'm flipping out, lol. All i'm taking is wellbutrin and xanax. The wellbutrin helps some but makes me totally nervous and I cannot sleep at all. I'm pretty sure most of the mood swings are from 86-ing your anti-depressants. Your brain and body were probably just getting used to the meds.

You can definitely have withdrawal symptoms even when stopping such a low dosage like 10mg. It would probably be better to try and ween yourself off (i.E. Take one every other day or one every three days) until you take one a week for a couple of weeks, and then stop. However, whenever you stop taking your medication you should always consult with your prescribing doctor.
