Your mum may need to take more insulin in the evening. I also have very high blood sugars in the morning but I have no one to blame but myself as I eat far too much in the evening. She may also need to take an oral medication to help regulate the insulin she is taking. I take avandament, which is glucophage and avandia mixed into one pill. When I take my medication like I am supposed to and insulin correctly and don't eat in the evening I am okay. Check to see if mum is eating in the evening. She may also need to inject a few units in the middle of the night around 3am or so, I have done this at times (with fast acting inuslin) when I have over eaten at night and it seems to help. I think this may only work with fast acting insulin though and if not taking fast acting she will probably just need to take more 24 hour insulin at night.
Hope that was helpful.

Yes most insulin(not fast acting) takes 18 hours to work. So take in even for the am meal. I cannot ever get mine to go down low enough. Havent had proper care since started taking it, might need adjustment. No money no insurance

I am no Dr. But I have known a lot of diabetics and I have learned to watch your carbs and tomatoes can turn into sugar.

Keep us posted on what happens.

Evenings
From what I have learneed by having type -2 diabetes...Which is controlled by diet, eat no no no carbs at night. Eat just meat and veggies, preferably just veggies. For the first few days after being diagnosed, I had only chicken and veggies for dinner but still had to walk a mile to work the food off so my blood sugar would lower. Also stay away from fruits or veggies that you think are veggies but actually are fruits, like tomatoes or carrots at night.
