In 1967 I had my tonsils removed. In the late '70s I noticed a hole in the right side of my throat with white stuff. I went to the doctor and he removed the white stuff and said he had not seen anything like it before.
In the 80's and 90's I had the hole fill up a few times and again had the stuff removed. In 2003 the hole kept filling up at least five times a week.
My doctor at the time sent me to a throat doctor. He said it was tonsil stones with nothing to worry about. However, he did surgery to remove the outer tissue in order for there to be no more hole. This was the most painful surgery since it was so close to the ear canal (and I have a high pain tolerance: example I went back to my wharehouse job two weeks after having my acl replaced in my left knee. Most people would be out a couple of months).
Two weeks ago the hole started bothering me again. I can clean it out and open my mouth to find more of the white stuff. I seems endless. The hole has come back but seems deeper and more down the side of my throat than before. It is painful and a little red. When I go to clean it out with a long sterile swab I can open my mouth the first time ok. When I go to open it again my throat seems constricted and my tongue does not want to cooperate. I gag, my eyes water, my throat hurts making me feel really bad for a while afterward.
I thought about going to the doctor again, but he probably just tell me it's nothing. I disagree it is something that really is bothering me.
