Eyes
I'd like to add that i've had a lot of "floaters" (those little weird floaty thread like things you sometimes see in front of your eyes) alot lately, too. I'm not sure if it's related or not, any of you have this problem?

Still Out There
Hi all,
I have nothing of value to say ... I just wanted to thank those who have added their words and thoughts to this forum, and I'm sorry I still don't have the solution to your/our woes.

I've felt like this for almost 14 years now without pause, and I've gone through a lot of sh*te including depression, anxiety and occasionally worse (at the hands of 'solution' drugs mind you), but I come back here and see that I'm not alone and it helps.

Keep posting ... there's gonna be an answer one day ...

Finally!
I think my doctor and I have finally found out what's wrong with me. I have been diagnosed with a panic disorder and the dizziness/fogginess I feel every day is most likely anxiety. Every so often, a few times a week I will find myself in a situation where the lightheadedness gets suddenly intense, my heart beats really fast, i can't breathe very well and I feel like I'm going to pass out. These are panic attacks. Perhaps this is what some of you are suffering from as well, I'm guessing for at least few of you that the constant lightheadedness is also related to anxiety. A good website to check out about anxiety and panic disorders is www.nomorepanic.co.uk there are also many other people there who suffer some of the same symptoms! I hope I was of some help! Good luck to you all. Very Happy

But are the situations causing the symptoms or do they just happen? If they just happen it's not panic disorder.

Random
"Panic disorder is an anxiety disorder and is characterized by unexpected and repeated episodes of intense fear accompanied by physical symptoms that may include chest pain, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, or abdominal distress.

People with panic disorder have feelings of terror that strike suddenly and repeatedly with no warning. During a panic attack, most likely your heart will pound and you may feel sweaty, weak, faint, or dizzy."

Notice how it says "unexpected" and "with no warning". There doesn't need to be a reason, or a specific situation for panic to occur.

Internet sources don't define it in the best way. There are always similarities between the situations when they happen, you just might not be aware of it. And in actual panic disorder the disorder itself revolves around consistent worry about the attacks, their ramifications and their is also usually significant change in behavior because of them that itself is related to the attacks. If these things aren't present, it's simply general anxiety disorder.

Yep
Yeah, that's how it is for me, it happens in social situations. All kinds of different ones though, even when all the people i'm around are people I feel comfortable with. Some days I don't even want to leave my apartment, I think of different excuses for calling into work. I haven't been to the grocery store in over a month because for some reason thats where my attacks hit me the hardest. It's weird becuase I have no clue where this is all stemming from. 10 months ago I had nothing at all like this, now I'm afraid to go anywhere. And although I do have a fair ammount of stress in my life, it's hardly enough to cause this. It's very frustrating and disabling..

Hmmm, yes, you seem to be getting full-blown agorophobia now. The thing is though you've noticed it seems to come on when it really shouldn't be. If my sugar is low enough, I will sometimes be slightly anxious about leaving the house because I remember what it was like to have hideous glucose drops and how I could hardly walk. However, I only get like this if something physical is wrong, ie in my case sugar. Have you been thoroughly checked for physical problems? Do you have any other symptoms?

I've had my blood sugar/pressure check. I've been to at least 3 different doctors about it, because I was convinced it wasn't just anxiety, but they continue to tell me that nothing is physically wrong with me, so.. aside from the almost constant lightheadedness i have alot of trouble breathing, and I just fell really disoriented all the time. My last doctor thought it might have something to do with poor sleeping habits so I started taking ambien which didn't help much. Now she's prescribed xanax and prozac for me. I have both but I don't really want to take them, I don't want to have to resort to taking pills to feel normal again. I'm not sure what my next step is going to be.

I have trembling and also constant muscle fatigue

I want to stick my fingers into my neck so much do to the pain I have in my neck. My headaches range from mild to severe but mostly they are there every day.

I canstantly panick and worry I am dying from aids or from some other very bad disease. I have constant anxiety about everything from people to my job and also money problems.

I would love to be normal again

can anyone tell me if they are feeling the same way.

Those symptoms sound way too phsyical to just be anxiety. I don't really have any "pain" other than occasional headaches and stomach aches. I'm assuming that you've been to see doctors, and they haven't found anything wrong with you? If you're in that much pain you need to go get a second/thrid/fourth whatever opinion instead of just tolerating that, you shouldn't have to live your life that way.

I agree, you clearly have some sort of physical problem at the root of your mental symptoms. Those physical symptoms are too much to be caused by mental illness of any kind.

The ‘dizziness’ itself is an intense groggy heavyheadedness like being hungover or having a head cold 24/7, and all the constant fatigue and headaches that goes with it. I don’t experience vertigo or any other motion type dizziness.

Other major symptoms (as well as low energy and frequent headaches) include: dry, sore, itchy eyes; poor memory and concentration; and neck tension and pain (and inflexibility).

I also experience anxiety...

Those ARE the same as alot of the symptoms as I have, and I'm not even sure that what I'm experiencing is panic/anxiety as pills don't seem to help, and I still feel the same way ALL day every day. If it was anxiety, I would have a little relief i would think. I'm just relaying to other people the experiences I have been through, which is what I'm hoping others will do, too.
I didn't realize I needed your permission to answer other people's posts to me on your thread. Excuse me. Good luck with whatever the hell you have, because you're definately not going to figure it out if you don't listen to other people who might be feeling the same way.

what's your alcohol history?
you sometimes feel like you are after 2 beers, just there is no euforia, right?

I think it can also be related to some eye problems(like floaters, because brain is trying to filter the floaters making you this sensation maybe)

or it can be related to some kind of multitasking thinking, some of us just can't focus on a single thing, they always anticipate or think to something other simultaneusly.

Re: Dizziness 24/7 For 15 Years - Response
Hi Wardnets and everyone else

Like most of you on this site, I had just discovered this website through a web search, and only to find there is a world of others out there suffering from similar problems to me and some of you have suffered with this for so long. It is very disheartening.

My problems started Nov 06, when I started to get a light headed feeling in my head, plus a very hot head and dizzy type of feeling, like when your blood pressure is low and yr about to faint. It seemed to always occur whilst I was in he middle of a meeting at work making me look like a hypachondriac but this problem was rectified after a cold compress and lie down. This was eventually followed by a constant path of headaches, sharp pains in my head every day, which I soon discovered was connected to my muscles in my neck etc. after consulting with a physio and having treatment. So at least i understand the sharp stabbing pains, most people never think of their spine with their headaches, they tend to think the worst. (according to my phsyio).

The dizziness however continues however I liken it more to a light headed feeling, i dont get the tingling anymore, what i get is this irritating fuzziness, it is not vertigo. I dont feel like i'm going to fall over. This is accompanied with a dull headache in the frontal area only which is what i really cannot stand. I feel like my forehead is sliding off my face. i'm finding i'm light sensitive and noise sensitive. I have been also diagnosed recently with chronic dry eyes and have to use drops forever now.

i have monitored these symptoms for the last 4 months and noticed that it occurs just before i'm getting my period and lasts for a couple of days only. So bingo, is this hormonal related? and i have noticed that my cycle is reducing in length. Could this be pre-menopausal symptoms (I'm 42) I thought i had the answer but this last month the dizziness has decided to stay on so this is my 4th day in succession, a different pattern from the last 4 months.

It is not constantly there it fluctuates during the day and usually at the end of the day it isnt there? it is driving me nuts. i have had blood tests, hormone tests etc etc and off course like everyone else, no answers. I have also had my eyes checked by a specialist. I havent done the MRI but by the looks of things with everyone elses response to having an MRI it showed negative symptoms so I'm not bothering.

If anyone can give me their thoughts on my symptoms or have similar stories would love to hear from you. I'm somewhat different to some of the other symptoms mentioned by the other people on this site, but there are alot of similiarities as well.

Cheers
Linda

Hi all I have just come accross this forum and I feel like I have found a part of myself, for 15years I have had constant dizziness it started when I was 15 and I had stomach problems which turned out to be hiatus hernia, after haveing a endoscopy (camera down the throat).

A few days after that I started to feel light headed and the days following in turned into full blown dizziness but it was not vertigo it was like being drunk or tipsy but without the missbalance,
my head would be confused as I know what I can see but my brain was taking it as something else, I am dizzy 24 hours a day and cannot work due to it, I find that being in crowds or places where there are loads of moving people or objects makes me feel worse, the weird thing is I am even dizzy in my dreams its like I cannot get away from it.

I have had loads and loads of tests over the years and nothing helps.

I have had only two instances where it went completely and thats was only for a few seconds, why that happened I will never know.

Also everyday is like a surprise as one day it can be really bad and another day can be okish.

I would really love to hear from you all also if possible I would like to know what you did when you got your first symptoms and if you have any other health problems.

Feel free to email me as I am anxious to speak to someone about this, I know longer feel alone.

I am almost freaked out by how accurate all of you seem to describe my "condition" I've had it now for about 5 days, and it's driving me crazy. Whenever I try to tell anyone (family) they just tell me that it's nothing, or that I should eat something, or that I'm tired. I know that that isn't it. I just feel like I am not 100% there mentally. I felt simular to this before and it went away within 2 days and has been coming back periodically. This time however, it has not gone away. It's really starting to scare me that I might be like this forever. I can not stand it. I'm starting to think I would rather die. I really feel like part of my brain is gone and all I want to do is snap out of it. If there is anything any of you have tried, or specialists you have seen that have provided any answers, PLEASE post it. I'm desperate. By the way, I am 17 years old and I know that's around the time when 7ducks' condition started. Is that a simular age for anyone else?

Constant Dizziness
Hi all i am 22 years old and been suffering with constant dizziness since July 31st 2006. Strange how i rember the date. First i was told it was ear infection then panic disorder, then heart as i suffered from palpitations. Then i thought wat a load of sh*t. Excuse my language. I see alot of you have been going through years of this and i cant believe none of you havent found any kind a relief even for a few seconds. I woulndnt have done if i wasnt such a researcher and even though i feel like caca all the time im a tryer. I am currently waiting to have my sinuses scanned and ill explain in a mo why im having them scanned and am waiting to see chiropractor.
But being in england we have to wait weeks for anything unless we throw ourselves on the floor at A&E "Pretending" to faint. I did numerous times.

But before the dizziness i had a perfectly normal life. Ive forgotted what normal is to feel like. I have gone from the big boned life and soul of the party with loads of energy for a big guy to a lazy big boned dont want to do nothing guy. Every one thinks im lazy because i dont want a job or do anytrhing in this situation which i guess most of you feel like and i bet you can see why.

BUt here goes a few therorys of mine.

1) Anyone ever tried a steam boil? You have a boil with boiling water in it put a towel over it with your head in there and just inhale the steam? It gives me a few minutes of relief even if its not 100% but if it works for you it could be sinues or a blocked eustachian tube.

2)Try a hot bath but before you put your top half of the body in, think how you feel. You should feel the same then slowly lower yourself in the water sliding down the bath, if you notice your dizziness/lightheadedness relieves for that you may have a trapped nerve or even a restricted vein. A trapped or restricted nerve, im thinking vagal nerve can have all sorts of consequences if you read up. It can cause pain in arms, legs, back, and even have an effect on organs which may explain palpitations and nausea more than you used to, bloating, lack of energy.
A restrcition to the vein, well you can see that ould only have an effect on your head, the blood might be having trouble getting a constant flow to the brain. Dont worry if it was really bad we would be all dead or had a stroke by now.
But you can see where im coming from. I aint a doctor by the way.

3) I am having adrenaline tests but i think that is a cause for the palpitations ive been having but they can also cause dizziness and anxiety for no reason.

I hope some of this helps. I know you are all thinking well you have been like it for a year, why are you still like it well thats because for 10 months of it i wouldnt leave the house to do these tests but have now thought wat can stop me now? Its either stay like this or do something about it.

I will let you all know how im getting on with this as tomo im having an appointment with my chiropractor, i probably wouldnt have gone if one of my friends dint recommend him to me because he broke his back in an accident and he taught himself to walk again even though doctors told him he wouldnt ever again. During that he learnt about every muscle and nerve in the body. Can you see why i want to see him. If he finds the problem, i have all ready explained my weak neck and constant dizziness, headaches, and sometimes it feels like im fighting with my head to stop it going the other way? If he does i will give you all his details and he might cure you.

I will keep you all posted. Also after my sinues and ear scan. Hope ive helped you.

Still Dizzy! :s
Seanyboy, thank you for your post ... it's great to see you tossing some ideas around, and some good original ones at that. I'm definitely going to give them a go, and please post back and let us know how you're going with your research.

On chiropractors, I have spent a sh*t load of money on them with no release on my dizziness. Having said that they all have different techniques and some work for different ailments. For eg, I have a friend who used to have very bad cronic fatique and allergies to a bunch of stuff (her diet generally consisted of lettuce, chicken and water and a strong perfume would put her on the floor ... literally) who was completely cured by seeing the right bone cracker.

Further to that, I want to mention a guy in the US who actually manipulates people's skulls from the inside by using endo-nasal balloons (ie. balloons inserted into the skull via the nose and inflated .. duh!). To be honest I sometimes feel a reason for my grogginess is that an important artery is not delivering enough blood to the brain, possibly through misalignment of the spine vertabrae or skull plates. You can decide the quack level you want to assign to this guy's technique but read about it and let me know if you think there's any value to it.
