what kind of dizzyness is it, mine stops me from doing anything, reading, watching telly, going out etc.
i get confused because dizzyness is not really saying the symptoms as people here say they have it but can drive a car??? is it vertigo is it in your head etc.

Dizziness for a year...with fatigue
I also have been having the same symptoms. I have a hard time believing it is anxiety though. It started about a year ago and began as the dizziness starting in the late afternoon accompanied by fatigue. Now, I am dizzy all the time. I don't feel like the room is spinning but rather, I am on a boat. I do feel better when I lay down for a while but it never quite goes away. I think I have had like 2 days where I haven't felt dizzy. I also feel better when I have a few drinks...maybe cuz when you drink you feel kinda off balance anyway? I went to the ER one day and they did a CT scan but it came back normal. I wonder if an MRI with contrast is more what I need.

I can't help but think the symptoms started when I moved into my new apartment, I wonder if there is some kind of mold, pesticides being sprayed outside, or something environmental.

Has anyone asked their doctor about this?

I think I'm dizzy due to a mix of ativan and anxiety. I have been ready a bit and found that people who go on celexa have increased anxiety while the medicine adjusts and starts working...due to this, I'm taking ativan more frequently....kind of HORRIBLE domino effect

nope not on anything. when i got bad again they put me on tramazipam, which i did not know it was for but did not help in anyway, the withdrawals where worse. i have thought before could it be anxiety but ffor 17 years now i doubt, it has calmed down so i could live with it and would only get worse when i have a cold. flu, infection etc.
but it seems eveytime i have had an attack i have not gotten close to seeing normally, some days it seems my vision is off or that moving traffic makes me feel worse, its weird but i think its about time doctors and specialists looked into it.

if it is anxiety should'nt taking meds help.

I would think so. I just started taking Celexa about a week ago for my anxiety (takes up to 4 weeks to work) and in the mean time, I'm taking ativan to help with anxiety. I think my dizziness is the ativan and hopefully soon enough I will be off it....if the Celexa helps with my anxiety!

Yes, there are meds that should be able to help you if it is anxiety. I would first make sure it's not a medical problem before seeing a psychiatrist and taking an anxiety medication. Just to rule out that it isn't something more serious I would suggest you ask for an MRI of the brain. There are so many things that can cause dizziness. For years I kept getting dizzy whenever I walked into a shopping mall. I always thought it was the lights until one day I fell forward into a counter and hit my head. I decided then it was time to figure out what was going on. It turned out that I am allergic to any type of perfume and it was causing the dizzy spells whenever I was around department stores that sold perfume or crowds of people. I also suffer from anxiety and it does cause dizzy spells at times so it can certainly be that too. Just get yourself checked out first.

i have been checked for almost everything, if it was anxiety i would be happy because i could work on it and make progress plus it would give me some relief from all the pressure of living each day with it.

as far as i know anxity and stress can not give perminant symptoms for so many years 16 so far.

maybe i need to be hypnotized to see if that helps don't know anymore

WOW! what a relief for me to finally have others that understand my symptoms...i have been dealing with constant lightheadedness for almost a year now. I have used, the same words to describe it, scattered, hungover, disconnected, dizzy, whatever it is its hard to explain and hard for most to understand. I have been reluctant to have any serious tests like most have, but sounds like they would be inconclusive anyway.
My symptoms started as a hangover, from a big night on the drink. i woke up the day after the hangover, feeling the exact same way, and i have done every day since. I constantly have tension in my neck, shoulders and upper back. It sounds like a broken record, but no matter how many similar stories i read on here, i felt a lot better knowing that so far its nothing sinister and im not in this alone. I agree that for anxiety to be this constant seems odd, altho i have not been tested for it, but am not keen to commit to a lifetime of drugs. I will be visiting here regularly, and hopefully one day we will all remember what it is like to see clear...maybe tomorrow i will wake up without being dizzy..or whatever u wanna call it...

Dizziness/grogginess
Hey everyone,

Not sure if people are still looking at this but just in case they are I figured I'd post. I began feeling the symptoms discussed here a few months ago, they came on and off. It commenced with a really bad sore throat that was treated as a virus but remained for a couple of months. None of the western doctors could find anything wrong with me. A chinese friend recommended I see a chinese healing/herbal doctor. He said it was caused by "body heat" which, as I understand it is really liver overactivity causing your blood to become very "hot" (I think this doesn't mean you'll necessarily actually feel hot, though I do nearly all the time) and this results in a variety of symptoms, including dizziness, drowsiness, heavy eyes, headaches, concentration problems, etc. There are many other symptoms apparently (including what I had - throat soreness, neck tightness, ear pain.) Anyway, as for solutions, I am lucky enough to live near a chinese doctor who prescribes me medicine which healed my throat completely within a month after spending 6 months with western doctors to no avail. I am currently taking more medicine for the dizziness/grogginess, and do feel it getting better. Of course, if that reverses I will post again, but I am confident it won't. The other thing one can do immediately to help cool the body is drink cooling drinks; mint tea, chrysanthemum tea. Some health food stores may be able to recommend other things. Drink lots of water, cut down or out red meat, caffeine, alcohol/drugs, salt, sugar, garlic, fried foods, ginger, spicy food, tomatoes or other acidic food. I find citrus fruits like oranges to be quite good. Breathing is very important. I am convinced there is a pretty major anxiety aspect feeding into this condition. So try to keep calm and centred, and not let my mind float over too many things all at once. I find my dizziness gets worse the more I think about it and the more anxious I get, so I try to focus on positive, calming thoughts. If you can afford it, get a professional massage. If you can't, ask a close friend or significant other to massage your face, scalp, neck and feet with cooling oils. Get lots of rest. Decline to accept stressful situations, and take time to yourself. Please note this is just my experience and everyone is different. You should see your doctor. He or she will either find some other cause for you or help alleviate the natural anxiety we all feel that these symptoms mean something terrible is wrong with us. Also if you do decide to go to a healer of chinese medicine doctor, try to confirm their qualifications/expertise befroe trusting them with your health. One finall comment on the bad habit that led me here - I really think that looking up health stuff online is bad for people prone to anxiety. As my mother put it - it's like reading the National Enquirer and treating it as the New York Times. Reading this stuff would make anybody feel ill.

I sincerely wish the best of luck to you all, and I hope this helps.

7ducks!
7ducks I've been looking for you for a while. I saw your posts on another website and wondered how you were. Good to find recent posts from you. I've had the same symptoms since the night before thanksgiving in '96 (13 years) Tried to mask it with pot and drinking for a number of years until I decided to investigate... silly me. I've tried 5 psychologists and their meds (I've hit every class of drug prescribable...not a dent). ENT (Negative), EKG (Negative), Blood work (Negative),CT (Negative). Currently going to a naturopath to try something different. I starting to get more irritable as I eliminate possible solutions.

I am an avid Cincinatti Reds (baseball) fan and their first baseman, Joey Votto began to get these symptoms about a month ago. They found an inner ear infection but the problem persisted. He just came out and said he has been struggling with these symptoms since his father died a year ago.

The first time I experienced my dizziness/confusion/ lightheadedness, etc. I was waiting tables working extremely hard. I turned around to look at a table to remember what they wanted to drink and suddenly the ambience (noise) from the entire room began to overwhelm me. I'm sure this was the beginning of some type of anxiety. I had a halter moniter attached a few days later after my heart began beating out of my chest.
The interesting thing that has always bothered me is that there hav been two times in the past 13 years where all the symptoms went away. Both times for about an hour. The last time, unfortunately, was about 9 years ago. I always wonder, why those two times and why never again? I am happy to see your posts and know that you are still investigating. What a struggle, eh? Good luck everybody and I'll be checking in to read these posts! Ryan

Hi. I don't know if this will help, but i decided to share.

18 years ago (i'm 36 now) i had a panic attack.
Since then, i started to feel dizzy everyday.

I did a lot of exams, with no results.

Then i started on a psiquiatrist and i was able to control the dizziness.
My dizziness always made me feel like i was going to fall, with the lack of visual concentration.

In these 18 years, there were ups and downs. There were times that i was 100% (several months/years) and others that i was worse. The medication has been always around bromazepam with good results.

I hope it helps
