My son will be 4 in sept. The problem is as of lately he becomes very defiant when we are in public or even in the neighborhood. When he does not get his way he will cry, fuss, yell and just throw a fit. This attitude will usually continue until we get home and he continues to now scream at the top of his lungs, crying hysterically. I have tried time-outs, taking toys and privileges away....I find myself loosing my mind.....I have never felt this helpless with my child. Once he calms down which can be anywhere from 10-30 min he tells me why he was not being a good listener etc....So he knows that he is misbehaving and we have talked about why this makes mommy upset. Can someone please give me some advice on what I can do for the crying, whining behavior that continues to become more frequent and very embarrassing.

My mom always ignored it. And do you know what I did after awhile? I shut up! Don't think that your kid is the first kid to throw a tantrum over stupidities. You have to be the adult, and he is the child. End of story.
