I have an undiagnosed deep aching in both ankels and wrists that intensify when I lay down to sleep or become inactive for awhile. I'm taking meds to help me sleep. I've been to many specialists and many, many test with no result. I thought about gout because each spring when cherries come to market I eat bowlfuls and feel some relief. A natural healing book connected gout and cherries. I don't have episodes or attacks...It's always there under the surface. Also don't have inflamation. I remember this as early as 1977. The last several years it's become more intense. Without inflamation and "attacks", could this still be gout. Does anyone know what fresh cherries could be doing to help relieve the aching? Any input is greatlly appreciated!!!
Thanks, stan

Anthocyanines in cherries, as well as in other berries, are anti-inflammatory. It can soothe gout and other arthritic pain. Therefore, the fact that the cherries soothe your joint pain doesn't necessarily mean you have gout. Your symptoms are atypical of gout. To verify if you have gout you need to test the joint fluid for urate (msu) crystals. See a rheumatologist about gout or join pain.

Are you taking prescription drugs? What are they? Many commonly used drugs can cause joint pain. They include calcium channel blockers (for hypertension), statins (for lowering cholesterol), etc. Generally, if you stop taking them, the pain will go away in weeks or months. I suggest check the side effects of the drugs you are taking and talk to your pharmacist and doctors about it.
