Q: Cost of Birth Control

I just started yasmin and I haven't had to fill a prescription yet. I don't have any health insurance, other than emergency coverage, so i'll have to pay for the pill myself. I forgot to ask my gyno how much it would cost and i'm in college with very little money. Anyone else here on yasmin and not covered? How much does it cost?

I don't know about yasmin in particular, but the cost of my ortho tri cyclen pills was $45. I would highly recommend you go thru your student health center on campus for the pills, as they will most likely give you free or greatly discounted pills. If they don't, or you don't want to wait for classes to start up, try going to a planned parenthood clinic. They have a sliding fee scale, so they'll give you discounted pills as well. $45 a months for birth control is ridiculous; you'd be better off with condoms and spermicide (much cheaper).

Yeah, i'm assuming it's rather horrible and expensive. I'll have to ask about my student health center options... I got to a very small college and it seems like all they have available is condoms and band-aids...But maybe they have some resources I don't know about.

When I was on yasmin, it was $30/mo. And that was with my insurance!

Yeah, that's the only information I can get. Everyone I know has insurance. I can't afford 60 dollars a month or something horrible like that. :p

I know this is a crazy idea...Haha...But have you ever considered going to planned parenthood? Now that you got checked out by your doctor and you know everything's a-ok, you could go to planned parenthood and get your pills. They charge $30/month, which is cheaper than $60 :)

I've contacted planned parenthood. There are none near my home but there is one near my college. I'm waiting for a response.
