Okay today I went and got bc pills. Ortho tri cyclen lo. I am on my period (started july 31 should be gone in a day or two). The doctor said to either wait until sunday to start them or she said I could start today. (wednesday). I decided to start them today.

I was looking through the little packets you get and it says to either start on a sunday or the first day of your period. I was wondering if it would be alright to start them today or should I wait? Also will it make my period come sooner if I start my 1st pill today. Ahh feedback would be greatly appreciated!!.

If this has already been a topic im sorry but I dont have the time to look through it at the moment. Thanks alot :-)

If you already started the pills today, you definitely should not stop them. Just keep taking them one a day (at the same time every day) even if you start you period, or have some spotting or breakthrough bleeding, while still taking the active pills. Your cycle may be a little werid the first month or so, but then should even out and be normal by the third cycle.

However, if you have not yet taken a pill, you should probably wait to start them until sunday. By doing so, your cycle will suffer the least irregularity and you will likely have less spotting or breakthrough bleeding and have your period on time (during your placebo pills).

Just my two cents.
