Hi guys,

please someone tell me if my syptoms are hiv or std related or its just anxiety or alcohol abuse. It all started in the following way.

I had sex (using condom) with a sex worker somewhere in mid of march, I had small sore on the testicle at that time and I suspect that it has contacted the vaginal fluid. And also she gave me blow job while I was not wearing the condom. A 3 weeks after that I had diarrhoea type situation on and off for 2 months now. No fever, no swollen gland. But I have pain in pelvic left side and left side of neck/jaw and also a mild sore throat for more than 2 months until now. I have had small purplish blotch with little pain on my left eye lid for the last 1 month it has got swollen now. I read about all these symptoms on the web and since then I am worried. I had 2 weeks antibiotics course but still the pain and sore throat is there. I am scared and as a result of depression I have started drinking and smoking too much. My personilty has changed a lot. Could it be because of alcohol abuse and smoking.


I got really scared and contacted a general practitioner who advised me to go for esr test (i didnt tell him about the exact incidence). I took the test on 26th may and got the following readings.



Esr westergren method 02mm/hr (normal range 0-15)
lymphocytes 45.4% (normal range 20-45)

in urine test all is fine except for occassional red blood cells.


I had abdomen ultrasound and theres no inflammation or lymph node growth there.

I am really scared to get hiv tested. Does esr test reflects the hiv presence or std ?



If yes, what is the affect of window period on the esr result.



Please advise as I am under extreme depression and I have learnt my lesson. I love my wife and I have decided to keep away from such act in future.
