Ok so I have a question. For the past while I have been really worried because I have had a really bad sore throat. But then the pain went away and now a different pain is here. Its sbeen here for roughly 2 and a half days, today I looked in the mirror and saw that I had canker sores about 3 of them on my throat like at the back!!! Has anyone ever had this happen to them? How do these get started? I am on accutane right now, could this be a reason as to why I am getting these?? And also is there anyway I could get rid of the pain somewhat. They really hurt bad!! Any replys would be appriciated thx.

I Have the Same Thing
Tyler, how did it turn out? Did they get better? I have the exact same thing now. I have mono, and last week had strep along with it. The strep cleared up and I felt a little better for a while, but then the cankers started. I do get them in my mouth from time to time whenever I get a cut or scrape there, but have never had them on my throat before. It is very painful. I would love to hear what you did treat them, or how long it took to clear up. You don't happen to have mono do you?

Hope you are feeling better!

Yes it finally cleared up thx for asking. It went away after 2 weeks of pain and crap. It messed alot of my summer up. But its all good. So if you have the same thing it will pass dont worry. For a while there I swear I thought I was dieing. If I didnt take advil atleast once every 6 hours my throat was killing. But eventually it went away. The best thing to do is drink alot of water and always always always have some gum in your mouth to keep it moist.

ok idk if this is wat you had but b careful!
my entire life i suffered from agonizingly painful sore throats w/ raw or pus covered sores. it turns out that after about 6 years of pain, i finally got my tonsils removed. it took so long partly because i had a quack doctor who 'didnt beleive in tonsillectomies'. anyways, i went to a specialist and he told me that i had an anaerobic infection caught in the folds of my throat. at that point it had gotten so bad that my throat swelled so much that i actually had a difficult time breathing. it was a scary experience as i missed many days of school in my elementary years and i am glad i got them removed before high school. but i will never forget: the doc told me that in about a month or two, my throat would have swelled even further and eventually burst. wen i went to see the doc there was one poor girl to whom this occurred and i have never seen anyone in so much pain. anyways, just watch out for that, but if it has already gone away and you dont have consistent sores you probably just got some sort of infection that caused them.

Canker Sores
I have had the same thing happen to me recently! One day I started to feel a sore throat coming on, and a few day later I saw a bad irritation in the back of my throat and some white bumps. I thought it was stress so I went in to a doctor and they said it was canker sores. Over the next few days I started to see the bumps not only in my throat but on my tongue also! The doctor gave me a prescription for an numbing oral rinse for the pain but said that there is nothing that we could do except wait it out. Well I did that and they went away...that was about two weeks ago...and yesterday I started feeling another sore throat...and today the canker sores are back and killing me! I don't know what to do now?! I think that I might go see a specialist, an ear-nose-and throat doctor to see if there is any probable causes.

Canker sores & herpes?
I've been told that canker sores are actually a different strain of herpies...same with chicken pox & shingles. So, why I ask, haven't they developed a pill similar to the herpes one?

It isn't canker sores that are a different form of herpies, it is cold sores, the painful bumps you can get around your lips.

Chronic canker sores can be caused by herpes virus and are triggered by illness and stress. (Actually, you can get herpes in your eyes, too.) If they persist and are very bad (larger than the size of an eraser), you can get a prescription for Valtrex. I didn't like the prescription, but it works for some people. As far as preventing cankers goes, if you find they are chronic for you, try taking a vitamin called Lysene. That's helped me and several of my friends with our canker problems. For throat cankers, try a chloraseptic spray to try to cut the pain.

I too get canker sores in the back of my throat. I have been to the dr. and they are not a form of herpes (have had two different doctors test the affected areas). Canker sores are ulcers, similar to stomach ulcers that are often caused by too much acid. I found that mixing liquid benadryl and maalox is equal parts and rinsing my mouth (don't swallow) helps with the pain (like 4 times a day).
