I am new to this site. I have been dx with systematic lupus for nearly 3 months. I purchased the lupus book by dr wallace and it has clarified a lot. The thing is none of my doctors have been able to help with the itching. My skin itches constantly and several prescriptions have been tried as well as lotions, hydrocortizone, and changing soaps/detergants/fabric softeners/etc... Nothing seems to help. I was told that when I itch my skin starts to hive up and that makes the itching worse so not to itch in the first place. Kind of hard to follow that advice when it is so bad I want to cry in frustration  . This is not from my meds as it has been a problem for years. I also have these tiny white lumps that do not have anything in them all over my back and elbows. I am at a loss to dicover what is going on and the dermatologist is also clueless. If anyone could suggest something over the counter that helps itching or even has had a similar problem I would appreciate any advice you can offer.

Has anyone prescribed Hydroxyzine 50 Mg, 1 every 6-8 hours? The itching has become so awful it wakes me up and may or may not result in hives. I take this medication and get relief within 15-20 minutes! It is the generic name for Atarax. I have enough trouble sleeping because of joint pain (I have both Rheumatoid Arthritis and Systemic Lupus) and can't be treated due to being permanently colonized with MRSA and another nasty bacteria named Pseudomonas. There are only 2 medications that are not severely immune supressant and one didn't work and I got sick with acute pancreatitis after being on the other for a few weeks. The only thing that can be done for me is to make me as comfortable as possible. This medication takes care of the insane itching that would otherwise only add to my misery. I wish you the best!
