Ears Pinned Back (thread Visible)
Posted: 07-29-05 09:14am

Hi
my son is 7 and just got his ears pinned back under local anesthesie in france because it is common over there and less expensive. Everything went well during the surgery and he felt just a little bit sore after for the first 2 days but nothing major.
He is very happy but I am concerned about something.
When we went to see the doctor 1 month after the surgery, he saw that at 2 places on both ears, the permanent thread they use to help maintain the ears, is visible. Not much at all so he said to wait because the skin could still grow on top of them and it could take month to a year for that.
I am very concerned because I feel like the skin will not grow on the thread, maybe he could get an infection if it is not completely heal and I guess he can not go to the beach or pool until it grows. What if the skin does not grow, would we have to remove them but then, would the ears go back like it was before ! It would be a disaster for my son ! Please, if anywone could help me on my questions, I would greately appreciate it.
Thanks.
