Hi, i'm 16 years old, and I thought you couldn't get skin cancer so young, so I ignored the fact that I have a mole that has a few symptoms that it could be cancerous. I have done some research on it on the internet, and i'm getting a bit panicked cos it suits the descriptions of a cancerous mole really well, and I have ignored it for atleast a year now.

I know I should go to the doctor, but 1) my mum won't take me seriously 2) i'm going to holiday on friday so there is no time.

I'm going to try to go to see my doctor as soon as I get back in 2 weeks, but I am going to florida and will be sunbathing, will the sun make it worse?

I really need some reasurrance :(

Ok. Will do. Will the fact that I have left it a long while make things worse?

No.. It's not too late for anything. My sister had a mole and my mom didn't take her seriously for a very long time. We went to the doctor with her as support one day and it turns out it's just a large mole. And it's pretty darn big too... On the top of her leg. Apparently it is possible for moles to grow and not be cancerous.

Get it checked out and stress to your mom that it is important to checkup on these things. Rather than show her it and go on about it simply explain you're worried and need peace of mind.
