Q: Zoloft Withdrawal? Am I Going Crazy.....

i have been on zoloft and wellbutrin for about a year and a half now. Within the last two weeks I have not taken any. My regular dosage was 200mg of z and 100mg of w. I missed my last doc. Appt. And when I called to reschedule I was out of z. The doctor will not call me a few pills in to hold me over until my next appt. So, anyway...I am at almost two weeks cold turkey and I hope that I am having withdrawals and not just going crazy. Has anyone else experienced w/d symptoms from z?

In the past when I have missed my meds for a couple of days I would experience "weirdness" in my head. It is hard to explain...Almost like a zap of some sort. Now...I am having those feelings a lot also I am extremely emotional and definitely irritable. I haven't been sleeping that great and have had some strange dreams. I have felt sick to my stomach for the past few weeks and have been oddly tired during the day. I can take naps...Which I can never do! Is this normal?

Another question for the women on z....Have you had any period changes since you have been on z? My whole life I have been on a set cycle until earlier this year when my dosage was upped and I became careless with the meds...Forgetting to take them for days...Now I am at two months without a period? Anyone else experience such things????

Medication Withdrawal
"zaps" are a common withdrawal symptom. You are not crazy. It really is a phenomenon called different things. What it essentially is are neurotransmitters misfiring in your head. When the zaps occur, you can sometimes hear them, and feel them in your entire head including your tongue and jaw. Sometimes when you walk and experience them, it will feel like you are losing elevation and that's called the "elevator effect," in the psychology world. It takes a long time sometimes for those to subside. I experienced them decreasingly for about 3 months. That was after I tapered slowly down even. You should never quit cold turkey, but it sounds like you had no choice. I hope you are feeling better.

Zoloft Withdrawal Is Not a Myth
I have been on zoloft for several years and it's worked great. But I need to stop it to take a medical test (can't be taking antidepressants of any kid for a week before the test). I have been tapering off slowly and now several days without a pill. I feel completely awful. Tired, sluggish, almost drunk, dizzy, nauseous...And it's not getting better.... Any suggestions??

Sorry.......But I wasn't able to find any sort of relief from the withdrawal symptoms. If ur only going off of it for a week and will go back on it then it shouldn't be that bad. Going off of it for good is the worst but I did it!
