Q: Question About Vitamins

Is anyone already taking prenatal vitamins (even if you are not yet pregnant)? Are all prenatal vitamins created equal? Anyone heard anything about prenate elite prenatal vitamins? My doc just gave me a prescription.

Anyone heard anything about vitamins interefering with the results of a pregnancy test? I mean, it often change the color of your urine and I am guessing, the chemical composition.

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

I've read on the "materna" prenatal vit. Website that it is recommended to take prenatal vits. While you are trying to have a baby. From what I read, the reason is to make sure you have enough folic acid in your body for the baby's developement and help prevent against birth defects. I am taking them now for about a month since my husband and I are trying to concieve. Prenatal vitamins are like an everyday vitamin except are formulated to have higher folic acid levels and iron. I don't know if they interfere with taking pregnancy tests, so maybe test before you take your pill.

I've just started taking materna vitamins ( just over 5 weeks pregnant). Some vitamins will make you sick, although I haven't had any problems so far with mine. If that happens i've read that you can take two flinstone childrens vitamins with a folic acid pill.
