Q: Discharge

I have been having what I think to be excessive discharge regularly for a while now. It does have somewhat of an odor that is enough to make me self consious. It will of course tend to have a brownish tint right after my period, that I have heard is normal. It seems to have a yellow color. I don't like having to wear the panty liners daily from embarrasing discharge. I am 19, and have been sexually active with one person who was also a virgin when we had sex-so I am not worried that I could have gotten somthing. Does anyone know of anything that helps with this problem? Or maybe know of a reason that I could be having it?

It could be something as simple as a yeast infection.. If you are sexually active, even if only with one person who is std free.. You should still start going and getting regular checkups if you haven't already (although at 19 it's a good idea even if you were still a virgin). If it continues, I would go to a doctor. I agree it's probably nothing contracted or anything like that.. But the littlest things can cause you to get yeast infections or other infections which would be best treated by a doctor.

I'm not, and haven't been sexually active for quite a few months now. After my ex and I started being sexually active, I did get a yeast infection, and I had to treat it a few times since I had it for a while before going to the gyno. It may have come back again...Hopefully not. I'll have to see about going to the doctor I guess, thanks for the feedback.

Same Problem
I had the same discharge, when I was having sex with my boyfriend I noticed an odor and when I went to the bathroom I had a yellowish/brownish discharge. It only lasted about a day and when I went to the doctor they said I had a slight yeast infection, but no bacterial infections and I got checked for chlamydia and gonerrhea and they were all negative. The same thing happened a couple of months later too, and the doctor said that it could either be from having unprotected sex, because the two fluids might not mix well together, lol, or from missing a pill. And I did miss a pill the first time it happened, and the second time I was a few hours late. I've now been taking my pills regularly and haven't had the problem again. However, this month I noticed a slight brown discharge right before I was supposed to get my period, but no odor, I got my period and now i'm still having it a little, I don't know if this is considered breakthrough bleeding or if it's just my period. If someone can help me with that i'd appreciate it
