Q: How Faint Is Faint?

Advice please!! My period is 3 days later than when I expected it to come. I have never had "regular" periods but they are usually between 28-31 days. I tested this morning and I could see a very very very very faint 2nd line. Now, my eyesight is actually really good but I still asked my husband to look as well- he saw a the same very very very faint line too. Could this just be the line that would show up if it did get hit with the pregnancy hormone? In other words, is that line going to show up that faint everytime I take the test so it is ready to show up when hit with the hormone or does it only show up really faint like that when it is actually detecting some of the hormone? Does this make sense to anyone? Please let me know. I thought if I took the test this late in the game there would be no question.

I have other symptoms too but it is so hard to tell b/c they are so similar to period symptoms... Tender heavy breasts, gas, discharge(though more than usual), weight gain and slight cramping in lower abdomen. Also have diarrhea in the morning. Is this usually a symptom of pregnancy?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

I would say to wait a week and if you still haven't gotten your period then to test again. Most people say that a positive is a positive no matter how faint the second line is but there is always that chance that its a false , rarely happens but you never know. In a week the pregnancy hormone should be stronger and the second line should show up a little better if you are indeed pregnant. Good luck and keep us posted. :)

I line is a line--no hormone no line or plus sign, whatever you have. There is very very slight chance for a falso positive. Just doesn't happen. Now false neg happens all the time, not far enough along, don't make typical amounts of the hormone, didnt do the test right. But false positive just doesn't happen hardly ever.

Does this help??

This Is Going to Sound Really Stupid But...
I actually did it. I had my husband pee on the stick as a control to see if that same very very faint line would appear and it didn't. Yeah!!! I am trying not to get too excited just in case but I am going to test again tomorrow morning to see what happens. Still only 4 days late from expected period though.

Thanks for the comments so far... Keep 'em coming. :)

Have Faith!
I understand what you are going through!

I took 2 home pregnancy tests last week and both came out positive. I know there is great chance of me being pregnant. My husband and I have been trying for a while and finally got results I wanted. Just to confirm I went to my doctor and I did blood test and it came out negative..What are the chances?

So i'm going to take another test soon.. To see what happens!
I have been moody, tired, my nipples are sore, not much nausea, and abdominal pain. Also I have been getting up around 2:30-3am to urinate and found myself not being able to go back to sleep..Is that normal?

Now I read a lot of girls are complaining about the pain being on the left side, what does that mean? Because that's where I feel most of mine!

Have you miscarried lately brina27??
Are you taking hormones??
The chances of not showing pregnancy hormone in ectopic pregnancy is 17.5% for urine test to not shoe hcg, and 2% for blood test to not show hcg.
Ectopic pregnancy is real, my daughter in law is pregnant right now, one baby on the ovary and one in the uterus. A 1 in 10,000 chance.
Her hormones showed hi, at first, but they only thought she was preg in the tube. They made her take shot mexotrexate. And now they do not know if either baby is growing--no fetal heart sounds yet. But she is only 6 weeks when she went back in. We are waiting for 2 weeks to see if babies are still alive.
Mexotrexate stops the fetal growth or cancer growth in the body--used primarily for tubal pregnancy to end it, to alleviate problems to the mother. For it is very dangerous to have baby grow there.

I had an abortion in march 2003, due to other circumstances!
But I havn't gotten pregnant since then and my husband and have been trying since last year...It's kind of frustrating, but it may be to early to tell I guess..When I took the test it was 11 days before my missed period, but now it's about 4 days before...So I will take another test by the end of the week or so and see what happens!

Thanks for the help!
