Yasmine
Posted: 07-25-05 15:56pm

I am about to start yasmine and I was wondering if anyone has been on it and has had any bad side effects? I was on depo and had horrible side effects so I am hesitant with this new bc. Anyones imput would really be appreciated!

Ps I am only on it to regulate my periods, I actually would like to ttc right now but need to get my body in check first. Anyone in the same boat?

I took yasmin for 6 months. I recently switched because I didn't like it. Made me feel so emotional, I gained weight, I lost my sex drive, and I just didn't feel like myself.

But don't let that worry you - every body is different so it might work great for you. Good luck!

You think because I had such a horrible experience with depo that I will also have a bad time with this? I know that no one really knows for sure because it is my body but I am curious if anyone has used both and can compare.. Thanks in advanced!

I've been on yasmin for a little over a month. I haven't had any physical side effects but I am constantly worried and over-emotional...Crying or getting angry for no reason. I'm hoping this goes away in a couple months.

Hey

i was on depo for bout 4 months...Really didnt like, had bleeding for like four weeks continuous, went back on my regualr pill which is dianette, but my doctor suggested I try yasmin, I have now been on yasmin for two months, so far so good. Did get a little thrush but that may be from soem antibiotics I was on. Loads of my friends are dying o go on yasmin because it is meant to be one with the least side affects.

Good luck tho, I think you may just be worrying because of your experiences with depo,.

My best frien is on yasmine, says the only side effects were that her boobs hurted a lot at first but thats it and she says that now they barely hurt at all and that shes not had any other side effects shes been on it for 2 months. Im on the patch and I actrually would prefer to be on the pill cuz im spotting all the time and its so annoying but I know id never remember to take it on time so I guess this is better for me.

I just finished my first month and had no serious side effects. My boobs got a bit bigger, and my period took a few days to get started and I now have a yeast infection but im not entirely sure its from the pill.

I'm on my third month of yasmin. I didn't have many physical side effects. I got very very mild cramps, hardly noticeable, and I had increased headaches, but I tend to get headaches nearly every day anyway, so that may not have been yasmin's fault. Yasmin did make me incredibly emotional though. I'd get mad at the drop of a pin, change my mood really quickly, and burst into tears. It's gotten better now though and I don't notice it much anymore.

I also haven't been able to orgasm and i've heard that some people on birth control find it harder to do so...But i'd never had sex before I started birth control so this inability could have absolutely nothing to do with yasmin. I have no idea about that.

Yasmin really messed me up emotionally and physically. My heart would race constantly and I refused to leave my room most nights. I had no idea what was going on with me until I found this site: http://www.Medications.C om/go/se/yasmin that pretty much saved me. Not to mention, i'm a singer, and most users of yasmin experience a lowering of their vocal range, which screwed me up. Everyone is different though so it might be the perfect pill for your specific chemistry.

Good luck!

Yuck On the Yasmin

My family owns a pharmacy so I can tell you first hand that most patients who go on yasmin have similar complaints...Mainly the loss of sex drive. I, too, had the same problem and switched to ortho evra (patch). Not sure that I love it aside from the fact that I am not pregnant and I don't have to remember to swallow stupid pills every day. Nonetheless, you might like it. Yasmin works for some and not for others...

I've seen the least amount of complaints with the good ol' fashioned ortho tri cyclen and the ortho tri cyclen lo.

Good luck

I'm only on the beginning of week 2 of taking my first pack of yasmin and I already hate it!!!! I have no libido, I couldn't get aroused if johnny depp told me he'd be my willing sex slave, I have bursted into tears over nothing twice and have had my period for a week and a half straight.

Everyone's body is different but this is the third kind of bc that i've ever tried and have never had side effects like this! I have also been on alesse - that messed w/ my head. I was either crying or getting pissed off for no reason (only positive physical side effects). And loestrin - that was great! I'm thinking of asking to be put back on that. (the reason I stopped that one is completely unrelated to the pill's performance)

Posted: 09-07-05 15:01pm

I actually hated depo and yasmin was great after the nausia subsided. I don't know the exact reason for it but I had morning sickness type stomach pains for 3 months almost streight but I liked it eventually (the pill not the pain.)

Yasmine

My doc recently suggested yasmine, first for birthcontrol, and then she said that it would help decrease the oiliness in my skin, and minimize the growth of excess body hair. Any one heard of this ?

If it works for you, then great! I personally can't handle the fact that I have absolutely no sex drive whatsoever. And physically I feel nothing in my most sensitive places. Frankly, the pill freaks me out and I can't wait to start the new pills next month.

Yasmine Pill
Posted: 03-05-07 09:44am

okay yasmine pill, I would not recommend at all. I have been on it for 8 months and never felt so depressed in all my life. I am changing my pill tomorrow as it has really got me down. I have been off the pill for the past month and never felt so on top of the world, so do not want to go on that at all ever again, They say doctors do not like recommending the pill to anyone as it is such an expensive pill for them to produce and it is meant to be the new pill to go on as it doesnt have bad side affects.

Trust me, it does! I would strongly recommend keeping clear of this pill. Dianet isnt meant to be very good either, it causes emotional problems.

I have heard femodene is meant to be a very good pill to go on, which is what I will be changing it to. My sex drive has completely gone as well girls! Hope this helps.

I was using Yasmin for 3 years without any side effect.
I stop it 3 months ago because I'm planning to have a baby but the bad news is that the acne is coming back.
It's look like Yasmin made a good job keeping my face skin in great condition.

Do you have any idea about a medication that help me with the acne problem?

i have been on yasmin for three months and i hav been EXTREMELY over emotional the day before my period. often being set off by the smallest thing i will start cryinig for seemingly no reason in front of everyone. i think it has also made my boobs bigger, something that i definitely dont need! i went on the pill because i used to get really bad cramping so bad that i wud hav vomiting and hav to go home from work and it has really helped with that and helped to regulate my period as well as clear my skin. i think i will try to find another pill because id rather hav the cramping than hav my family think im depressed!

I'm starting Yasmin on my next cycle, switching from ortho tri cyclen lo. I find i have bad skin and mood swings on ortho and ortho lo and the Dr. said Yasmin would probably clear up my skin. I tried to find something about Yasmin and acne but it seems that Yaz is the one that helps acne. Maybe i was put on the wrong one?

I'm emotional on Yasmin as well, much crying, but then I may just be over-emotional at the moment.
My skin has been excellent and I don't have any of the side-effects that the other ladies have mentioned.
I think the way you react to different Pills realy depends on your individual hormone levels, (I've only heard bad things about depo though, so not going there!).
The only Pill I've had problems with was Diane (Brenda is the generic brand), it gave me REALY bad cramps and I turned into a "psyco from hell" the whole time I was on it.
