What Is Multiple Sclerosis?

Hi what is multiple sclerosis? Is it life threatening??? Im 16 is it possable for a 16 year old to get it????

Ms is not life threatening, it does change ones life. Over the long term, diability is possible. There are a lot of drugs now available that were not available just ten years ago.

If you're 16, you are not the typical ms patient. Most people who develop ms are in their 20's and 30's.

Multiple sclerosis is an inflammatory disease of the central nervous system which includes the brain and spinal cord. It is basically a disease of the "white matter" tissue. The white matter is made up of nerve fibres which are responsible for transmitting communication signals both internally within the central nervous system(cns) and between the cns and the nerves supplying rest of the body. I think a 16 year old may get it.
