Current Health Laws Supress the Spirits of Self-employeed

The current health care system in the u.S. Suppresses the entrepreneurial spirit of the self-employed. Why should I start this business, why should I invent this product. The health insurance companies and criminal lawyers will steal my profits for themselves!

Individual Health Insurance
You are the one who is wrong. How many small company owners can afford the premiums that would cover the procedures you mention? My guess is "not many"...........If they also want to feed their families.

You are obviously one of those leeches who works for the government. You have your health insurance paid by the "other" citizens of the us. Get a grip man, wake up and realize that the lawyers and criminal insurance compaines have devised a legal method in the past 25 years to steal from the self employeed. You are the one who is mis-informed. Do you know what it is like to make $40k a year and pay $990.00 month for your health insurance? Do you know what it is like to lay in bed at night and feel the terror of not knowing if you will be able to pay it the next month. I advocate that all americans get together and stop paying their health insurance. Send the message! We are sick and tired of having our pockets raided! We want change, now!

Extremely eHealthy
I have been in the same boat--i never did find a plan for self-employeed that I could afford. Never did find a private plan that would cover pre-existing conditions for a price I could afford, or with medical care I need. I think bush is on the right track and I think everyone should be able to get medical care regardless. Just free clinics in all towns, would be a start. Let me see, I have to frquent the er many times for just mediocre, medical treatment cuz I cant afford to pay for office visit and then prescriptions too. They either dont believe you, say your trip was not an emergency(even though private dr would say it is), or send you home still wanting, much much more.

My husband just started getting 60,000 a year , barely got our stuff caught up and then the business dissolved. (1 1/2 months)but I was seriously looking for some kind of help to no avail.

Hey guys:

interesting comments, but I was curious whether those who are self employed are aware of the hra 105? It's a labor code law that allows self-employed individuals who qualify to deduct all of their health insurance premiums, plus prescriptions, doctor's visits, mileage to the doctor, etc.

How about somebody age 70 who has immigrated here recently, self-employed, and is turned down by every health plan, I was willing to pay a good monthly fee? Not eligable for medicare for another 9 years. If something expensive happens to my health they would be able to take my home. Well, I guess that would be death for me.
I am hearing horror stories where older couples have to divorce when one of them has to go to a nursing home. This way the other can remain in the house. Divorce has also been suggested by someone working for v.A. So that husband can get a v.A. Pension. I think our divorce statistics have alot to do with that.
As for my own dilemna I have taken out annual travel insurance with a 2500.- deductible. They would pay up to 50,000.- if something happens. I can renew this if there was no claim. The cost was 1700.- per year. At least this is peace of mind for me.
So the best thing to do is to listen to your body and study about prevention and diet, alternative remedies and take advantage of any free tests offered by clinics as I found out about sugar in my blood and changed my lifestyle.
