Q: antibiotics and the pill

I have been taking antibiotics lately. I know that they can reduce the effectiveness in the pill, but can they also affect my next period? I have never missed a period on the pill, although some have been incredibly light, but this week i have had almost no bleeding at all, onlly a little on the first day or two, probably not even enough to wear a tampon. can it be the antibiotics affecting my period? i plan on taking a test, I just want to set my mind at ease a little. Confused

Negative
Test came out negative two times. Since i'm on ths pill I still havent gotten my period. I'll see when it comes up again. The pharmacist said that antibiotics should not affect my period, but if the time for my period had come and gone and tests are still saying negative then I am more than likely not pregnant. Plus I havent had any nausea or other symptoms. :d

How old do you have to be to get the pill?

I found that when I took antibiotics the same thing happened to me. Certain antibiotics interact differently with the pill. If you are ever unsure, just talk to your pharmacist or doctor. Smile Smile

most doctor's won't perscribe it without parental consent if you are young. But if you are concerned about telling your parents, seek advice from your local health clinic or planned parenthood, they should be able to help you.

Trust me, sometimes pregnancy test cant tell if a woman is pregnant even if she is. So ur best bet is to consult a doc!

My doc told me that pregnancy test might not detect pregnancy for up to 6 weeks..So I think u better go see a doc to be sure
