My names ashley im 17 and recently decided to become sexually active. I was on birth control for about 3 weeks but stopped because I disliked the side effects. I started my period the day after I stopped taking the pills, which was june 13th. It is now july 20th and I havent had my period again. I have had sex , but it was protected and the condom did not break or leak. I thoroughly examined it afterwards! Is my period trying to go back to the schedule it had before the pill or I should have had it on the 13th like it was last month? Could I be pregnant? Please help I cant sleep thinking about this.Me and my partner are both worried sick!

Hi ashley. Your body needs at least two months to fully adjust to the pill. If you had stopped taking it that early your body prob never fully accepted the pill. I hope your doctor told you to wait at least a month before having sex when starting the pill. If not well, they should have. Also, when on the pill your period can be very exacting, starting and ending on the same day. It would depend on if your period before was always so dependable. I would say if you completely miss your period this month, take a test to be on the safe side. But keep in mind, stress can delay your period!! And I would definately talk to your doctor to get onto maybe a dif kind of bc that has less side effects. Hope this helped and good luck!

Floating In the Same Boat
Hey, im 18 and I recently became sexually active but the difference is i'm not on birth control. My period is a week late it was due on the 14th and now its the 20th and still no show. Me and my bf checked the condom I mean really examined it no leaks and no holes. Im really scared I dont think im preggo but you never know. My friends say sex pushes your period back but I dont know how true that really is. Ive been thinking about bc but im scared. I have no symptoms my back lower back just hurts as if I was getting my period but its a week now. I only had sex three times and I checked all the condoms. I really dont know what to do.

Re: Floating In the Same Boat
I strongly suggest you take a test. Lower back pain can also be an early sign of pregnancy. Plus there is nothing to be afraid of with bc, it is more frightening to think about becoming a mother when you are not ready. I have never heard of sex pushing back your period. Stress can however, so take that into consideration. Condoms are still not 100% even if they dont break. There can be small tears that you would not notice, also any contact the penis has with your vagina, even before sex can cause problems. The "pre-cum" contains sperm. My advice would be to take a test, then get on some bc, whether it be the pill, the shot, or whatever. If you are worried about your parents, tell them you want to go on the pill to regulate your period and decrease cramp pain. Hope that helps and good luck!

Late Periods
When I first started having sex, my bf and I had a lot of sex, and only used condoms. I never got pregnant, but my highly irregular period did not help with the stress. I've never been able to predict it, and somehow figured out my cycle to be arond 35-40 days long. But i'd been setting my start date 28 days after my last, so you can imagine, I had a lot of "late" periods! Up to a week late!

I'm on the pill now, and believe me, I feel safer.

Re: to Those Expecting Two!
Wow, girl. My first suggestion is after you deal with this pregnancy is either go on some serious bc or well, take a break from sex. I honestly dont know what I would do in your situation. If you honestly doubt you can give these babies the life they deserve you should maybe consider adoption. Abortion is such a harsh, and sometimes dangerous thing, but adoption could give your unborn babies a chance to live a better life. Its great that your mom is happy, but she is going to have twins of her own to deal with. Lot of resposiblity for someone under 18. I'm not saying you wouldn't love your babies, i'm sure you would, but perhaps now is the time to think of them and what they deserve. I wish you luck.

I was just quoting maryah. I was a little confused because in some post shes having quintuplets and in others its twins. Also in some she had her first child (or children) when she was 13 and others when she is 14. I was just confused to which it was?

I'm Scared
Hi, i've been on birth control for two years now and have been sexually active for about that same about of time. I'm a bit worried though because recently my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex and he ejaculated inside of me while I was only on the pill for one more day of my two week cycle. The next day I took my pill again although my period was early. So far my period has only lasted two days and it was rather light. I'm not sure if this is a warning sign or not? Am I still at risk of pregnancy during the course of my menstral cycle even though my body is used to birth control pills? To be honest, i'm not sure if I should be even having sex during my menstral cycle? Will the pill prevent against pregnancy during that time as well even though i'm not taking it for a week...Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Re: I'm Scared
Hi. I was concerned about a similar sit myself. Go to this topic for what others told me: inactive pills safe? You might be at a slightly higher risk than me because he ejaculated inside of you but I would't worry over much about it. If you have been taking your pills pretty regularily than you should be as protected as a non period time. My period was also lighter afterwards so that maybe a result of having sex. It is safe to have sex on your period, I would just recommend next time using a condom, which I will definately do myself :d
