I figure I might as well post, too. About three days ago I first experienced this sensation of heat in my left calf while driving my car. My left calf was up against the door and I thought something was wrong, so I felt the door and it wasn't hot. I felt my leg and it wasn't hot either. The heat seemed to be internal, and then it went away just as quickly as it appeared.
I'm 28, not sedentary but not very active, and have had no major health problems that I think would cause this. I do have restless leg syndrome (RLS), though don't take medication for it as all the available medications make me feel very nauseous.
For those who have had a blood clot in their leg (DVT) and had a sensation of warmth, was the affected area of the leg warm to the touch? Or did it just feel warm internally but cool on the outside? Did the heat cycle on and off, or was it constant once the clot was lodged in your vein? Many of the symptoms of DVT seem to be very non-specific, so, I'm not quite sure if they fit this situation or not. However, with all the people out there who have NOT apparently had blood clots or gone on to develop pulmonary embolisms, it seems that's not the primary cause of this condition.
There is no discoloration, numbness, swelling, pain, or anything else associated with this for me. It's just warm, like a heating pad or something was placed against my leg.
If anyone goes to the doctor about this, or has returned from the doctor recently and discussed this condition, your findings would be greatly appreciated.
