So my Dr. Put me on the patch (ortho evra) a couple months ago but I read in the booklet that it may not work effectivly if you are over 198 pounds. I am about 210-215, so im worried that it may not be as effective. I used to be on the pill but it got me really sick so my dr switched me. Any suggestions or opinions?

I'm on the patch as well (second month now). I switched after taking the pill for 2 years. I always forgot to take it at the same time of day. Let me tell you I don't trust it either and i'm 130lbs!! The edges become lose and it becomes wrinkled when I go swimming and stuff. I won't even have sex without back up protection. This week im going back to the doctor to get my pills back. This time i'm going to take them every morning when I wake up so I will remember. If one type of pill makes you sick, try a different type. There are many different kinds, you just have to find one that suits you.

*edit... And I saw that thing about the weight in the instructions as well. The doctor shouldnt have even prescribed it to you if you are over the indicated weight. You should go and tell them your concerns.

Damn it can kill you!? Its just too much of a damn hassle. It is always getting gross around the edges and lose. And its very unattractive. My periods also have been all messed up and its kinda scary. Last month I had my period about 4 days later than I usually do and then it lasted 7 days! As opposed to my usual 4 days. And then this month my periods been all weird and really light and on and off, I put the patch back on tomorrow and I havent even really bled yet. I have one month supply left and im going to the dr next week, im gonna go back to the pills. I thought this would be easier but its not.

It Made Me Sick...
I was on the patch for 3 months and it made me vomit sick everytime I put on a new patch... Plus I was always moody and emotional and on top of that constantly sick... Get off of it as soon as you can...

Hmmm..
Well I've been on the patch for 2 months. I started on it to switch my period up and only have one when I want to. It's been working thus far. I've only now realized that it is the reason why I'm tired/sleepy as hell all the time. I haven't gained any weight though (I think I lost a little). However, I HATE this black ring that develops around it (cuz that's not cute). And I hate the fact that it wrinkles up cuz I get worried that it's gonna fall off or that it's not gonna be as effective.

I know how you feel.....
Ive been on the patch for a while now about 6 months and now im having doubts. My boyfriend researched it a little and told me that it gives you about 60% more estrogen then the pill and this is probably why im always teary and hormonal. I dont mind the fact that i am, its just i have now read that it has a higher chance of getting blood clots now and the heavier you are the easier the blood clot can form. I think i will go back on the pill, i only went on the patch because i kept forgetting to take the damn pill, but now the pill looks better then the patch so i might change back. My boyfriend also worries incase it doesnt work properly and we get pregnant. I also hate it when it forms that black circle round the edges because its nasty and not very attractive especially when you go swimming! I have had it stuck to my clothes aswell, this made me think is it working properly if it is not stuck fully on to me? I now feel that the pill would be safer.
