Hey everyone. Are there any women out there suffering from te? I am very young and suffering from it from horrible stress. I have been put on some medication and special shampoos to kick in regrowth faster. Any advice or support, or stories you guys have would be great. Thanks so much.

Te
I was researching this for my friend, and it was mentioned that scalp massage might be helpful as it brings blood to the root where your hair grows.

I'm interested in finding out if acupuncture would be helpful.
If you don't mind my asking, i'd be interested in the drugs you were prescribed.

Thanks,
loretta

I'm 21 and experiencing hair loss. I have been battling anxiety attacks and depression since age 17 but I know many anti-depressants can cause hair loss so I opted not to take them. I would be interested in knowing if the shampoos or anything has helped you. Please let me know.

I Understand What You're All Going Through
My heart goes out to you all. I'm 25 and three months ago began losing my hair after having my son (now 5 months old). My doctor told me it's telogen efluvium and he told me in about 6 months the hair i've lost will grow back. I've been put on the pill to help regulate my hormones but i'm still so depressed. You can see my head no matter what I do.
I would really be interested in anything that helps if anyone has any information about this.

Telogen Efluvium
I have had TE for about a year.I am 56. Do your research. There are MANY reasons TE can occur. By process of elimination I am narrowing down what could be my cause. Keep in mind, even though you have found the cause, your hair may continue to fall out for another 3 mths. So be patient and stick with it. Any doctor who immediately starts talking to you about Rogaine...run from! Your primary care can do a basic blood test to eliminate basics like low iron and thyroid.

Now Chronic TE
My hair started to fall out in Sept '07 about 6 months after I was placed on Coreg for tachycardia...this was the "shock" to my system. Coreg has very nasty side effects. I was on it for about 2-3 months. My hair shed for about 4-5 months and then stopped for 4-5 months and started to return to normal when last July 08 it started shedding again and has not stopped...I have been to the same dermatologist twice and she has no answers only that the second episode was bad luck and it will stop...but it hasn't..I am now in the 8th month of the second episode and no sign of a let up...any advice, anyone with a similar experience ??

Chronic TE
Hi Homebody,

There is a web-site called 'hairloss-reversible' headed by a gentlemen named 'Thomas Hagerty'. You can type in "Thomas Hagerty telogen efluvium" and it will lead you right to his site. Read through his blog. It goes back several years and is a wealth of knowledge. You will read about the experiences of many people with TE as well as learn about the neutritional supplements he suggests. I found this site to be the best yet.

Don't waste any more time seeing your dermatologist. I also had that experience. If it is not something that can be easily identified with a simple blood test they are very limited and resort to Rogaine.

Keep in mind that even though you may have found the cause of your TE, it could take 3 months before you start to notice a reduction in hairloss. Keep the faith and good luck!!
