Q: Pain In Upper Abdomen

I started to experience pain in my upper/middle abdomen about a week ago. It's progressively gotten worse and has now moved/spread to the right side, right under my ribcage. I've been very nauseus, very tired, and now its starting to go up between my shoulder blades and my neck. I've also been having palpitations/fluttering in my right upper abdomen. I went to the doctors and he basically said he didnt know, gave me a perscription for zantac (acid reflux) and sent me on my way. I've taken the pills, had maalox, ate sitting up (when I actually eat, appetite has supressed), drank soda (which I never do) to try and burp, all stuff I read about for acid reflux. Unfortunatley nothing has touched me and i'm miserable. If you have any input please let me know.... I'm desperate and in pain.

Hi,
this is surprising! I am having same sort of symptoms and it seems that my doctor doesn't know what's going on either. Believe it or not, my pain started beginning of this month too!!! They ran urine and some blood tests on me and the results were totally normal. But i'm still in the same dull pain in my upper stomach. It feels like a stomach muscle cramp and is constantly there no matter if I eat anything or not. The only difference in my case is that I experienced the pain in the right side under my ribcage first, before the pain comes to my upper abdomen. In the morning, when I get up I feel more comfortable, but it gets worse towards night.

I will keep you updated on my situation here. Could you do the same too please? Let me know if they have found any clue.

Thank you in advance

Boy Are You Going to Laugh About This....
This is what my doctor said:

theres nothing serious going on with "us" (i guess)...

I ended up getting an ultrasound done - nothing showed up.
More blood work - still nothing.
More urine test - nothing.

Then I had an x-ray... It had white blotchy stuff showing up all through my abdomin. Meanwhile, the pain went from the upper right side to the upper left, and is now in the middle all around my belly button. After a week of waiting for the radiologist to read it they finally called me back yesterday. They said I have stool from the ascending all the way to the descending colon and thats probably what was causing me so much pain...

You might want to get an x-ray... This is honestly the last thing I thought it was... Keep me updated though

thanks

Hi,

this is comforting news. However, I forgot to ask you the most important question I had! The very first days I was having the pain in my right side I got a high fever and intense chill. I experienced the fever a couple of times later too including last night. Did you ever have fever too?

So you mean it is just the stool stuck in our colon, right? If so, did they suggest you any way to get rid of it?

Thank you very much for the quick reply.
I'll go to the doctor soon and will keep you updated.

Yes, there is a way to get rid of all the waste that is just stuck there. Its called a colonoscopy. And from what I hear it is not to nice to have. It cleans it all out, and people are suppose to have one in their life time anyways. Its just like cleaning out clogged pipes! But also, your problem could be your galbladder. There is a special test that can be done to figure out if that is what it is, but you need to see a surgeon. I had mine removed not from pain, but from nausea! Good luck!
