Dont Be Afraid
Yes I think you should have a pap smear. I will not lie it can be a little embarrasing but if you go to a doctor that you are not to familiar with but one you like it is easier. Female doctors are better because they understand a womans body. They are not painful just a little uncomfortable but it doesnt take them long to do... Roughly bout 2mins. If you have had unprotected sex you should prob get a blood std check to just to aliviate any further worries.

What kind of things do they look for when you are given a pap? And also, I know they send a sample in to be tested but what exactly do they test for? Std's? Cancerous cells? Do you have to ask to be tested for std's?

check my answer in the other forum. When they test the cells they are testing for all sorts of precancerous cells. I don't believe they test for stds, just anything unusual. I believe you do have to ask them to test for stds

What They Are Testing For
A general pap smear test just tests for any abnormalities on the cervix or vaginal walls. If you want a test for something specific, you must request it, such as chlymadia, gonnorhea, or hpv. However, if a pap comes back abnormal, then they follow-up with more specific tests depending on the level of the abnormality.
