Hi my name is robert I am 19 years old and
looking to find information on bipolar
disorder. I have a girlfriend who is
bipolar she is 20, I would ask my friends
and family but she doesn't want people to
treat her differently. Today I went to
barnes and nobles to look for books on the
matter but only found books for people who
have a bipolar disorder and not for a
spouse. So I have a few questions, are
there any books out there that are
specifically for a spouse and how to deal
with this and should I ask her about
explaining everything to me and how she
feels. I don't really notice much in her
physical behavior but in mood swings how
she can be really daring at some moments
then totally drawn back the next, which I
suppose thats part of the disorder. Any
help would be very appriciated thank you
very much.
Robert

Hi my name is ashley and I am 16 and I
have the worst stage of bipolar and all
you can do is when she gets angery and
goes out of control or trys to fight
someone just pin her down for about 5
minutes and it should calm her down at
least it does for me and when she most
needs to talk to you be there thats most
important!!

My father suffers from that horrible
disease when he gets upset all I do is
talk with him and let him now that I
understand.Persons with bi polar don't
like to be held down or forced to deal
with reality.Some of those negitive
behaviours could be crys for help.Finding
something good to distract ones mind you
yourself keeping an open mind is the
key.And deffinetly no judging or un
necessary drugs symptoms of bi polar may
include rash decision making,exsessive
money spending,withdrawl from family and
friends,permiscuity,and plenty of
depression and suicidal thoughts

Ask the cashier for a print out of all the
bipolar books they have and it should list
alot. There is a book called loving
someone with bipolar disorder it should
help you out. Oh and if she gets angry
don't pin her down it will only reframe
her and make her more angry. If upset and
angry the best thing you can do is to talk
to her about it. If it does turn ugly
call the pairamedics and not the cops.
Cops are not trained in dealing with the
mentaly ill and may shoot her.
Pairamedic will know what to do.
