Hello,
i just have some questions for fellow birth control users. I have been on the pill for about 10 years off and within the past 3 years I have gain a significant amount of weight. My body feels extremly swollen and bloated and it is really uncomfortable to be in my own skin. I have been working out and dieting for the past 2 years will little success, no matter what I do I am still swollen. I al also missing periods now which my doctors says is normal ??? I am wondering how missing a period is normal. After I miss my period I feel even bigger. I have also go off the pill before for a few months with little weight lose but I did feel better other than the fear of getting pregnant. I am now going off the pill for good, I am wondering if anyone has some advice or sugggestions for me.
Thanks :d

Re: Birth Control/swollen/bloated/weight Gain
Hi. Weight gain with the pill is normal, but I havent experienced any swelling or bloating. Could it be that your stressing over this and your body be the cause of missing your period?? I would definately go off the pill if your body isn't comfortable with it, but keep in mind there are many other forms of bc. I woudl perhaps try the depo shot, maybe the iud or the patch. My mom is on the shot and my sister the iud and both have had no problems, but everyoen is different. Just dont completely give up on bc :d

If you feel you may be pregnant, get a home pregnancy test. This will put your mind at ease. Since you have been on the pill for a while, you may need to switch brands. I have heard that sometimes it is necessary to switch brands becuase your body gets to be so familiar with the pill that it can cause your periods to get really messed up. Since you say you are gaining weight and feeling bloated, going on a lo version of you pill may be neccessary. As far as missing a period on the pill and having it be normal, I have never heard of that! Good luck!
