Over the past few months my upper abdomen has become increasingly distended to the point now where I find it embarrasing . I have been told firstly that it is irritable bowel and have now ben referred to a consultant with possible gall bladder problems although a scan revealed no stones I dont have any real pain just occasionally under my right ribcage and some slight burning in my throat but not often. I have been prescribed buscopan. The only other symptoms I have are flatulence and frequent bouts of cystitis. I am currently going through the menopause and have very irregular periods. Any ideas as the waiting list for consultant is at least 17 weeks and I cant decide whether I should make a private appointment.

Maybe a Little Help But Not Sure
Sounds like it could be irritable bowel syndrome, my sisters doctor said to eat nothing with seeds eg. Sesamee seeds, poppy etc. Drink 2 liters of water a day. However if cannot tolerate h2o intake try herbal teas and add yakult or optimal ( fermanted milk drink) to your daily intake. Reduce fat intake also... Try to stick with it and see how you go. Goodluck :)
