I have mild acne with occasional pimples blackheads and large pores. So far nothing has worked so I decided i'm going to try proactiv. I have nothing to lose. Two of my friends tried it and said it didn't make a difference, and another two friends tried it and said it did wonders and cleared their skin right up. I was just wondering what everyone elses experiences with proavtic have been like? Did it work? Or have you found something that really works well for you?

Proactive Solution
Posted: 07-11-05 16:00pm

I have been using proactive for about 5 years now and it works great for me. Everyone is different, everyone has different types of acne. Mine is real temperamental, if I forget to wash my face even one day, my face will break out real bad. But as long as I use proactive everyday, my face stays relativly clear. As of late, I get some break outs. But I think that is because after 5 years of use, my face might be become immune to it...But I am not sure. If you are really concerned about your skin and have tried everything else, it would hurt to try this. I know it's $40 to just try this stuff but I think clearing up acne is worth $40!
Now, I live in oregon and in our local malls, I have noticed that they have proactive solution stands where you can buy all the products there. And if you can find one of those, you can see if they have sample to try. Otherwise, I would highly recommend you buy it from the infomercial. I say this because, once you do, you become a member and get discounts. They automatically send you a new set every 2 months. And every 5th set is free! They send you a catalog with all their other stuff and there are retail prices and club prices. So once you order from them directly, you are a club member and get club prices. But if you go to the store or stand, you pay full retail even if you show proof that you are a club member. Kind of lame!
I hope this helps!
Good luck!

Thanks for you input. Yeah I saw the stand in the mall and after my friend told me it worked for her I decided to look into it. I bought it on the proactiv website the other day so my order should be coming in 3-5 weeks (bummer). It's costing me around 45$ american but I dont really mind. There is always the money back guarantee. At the mall it was 65$ for the replenishing kit, and there was no guarantee. They only offered money back if you bought the 5 piece beginner kit that cost 106$ and it comes with a "sepcial moisturizer". I thought that was a bit rediculous because it's supposed to be a 3 step system not 4 or 5 and I should get my money back if it doesnt work.

I have been using the solution for 6 months now. It works better then anything else I have tried in the past, but it is not perfect. I am satisfied enough to spend the 40 each time for it.

I used proactiv for about 3 years! Absolutely loved it - however, financially I couldnt get it anymore.
Lately (fyi) I have been reading alot on vinegar. And when I have pimples come up (i am 35 and get them often) I get a q-tip and dab into apple cide vinegar and rub on the pimple - next morning it is dried up!!! Really -
so, for you folks needing a cheaper route sometime when u wash ur face ( I used neutrogena) pour a little salt & sugar in your hand and it will give you your "facial scrub" then dab on the apple cider vinegar - really - it works!!
For anyone else - proactiv is really great!

I used proactive for like 4-6 months, didn't do anything at all, so stopped using it. I also tried dermafina, also didn't work.

I always liked proactiv. It worked really well for my skin, but alot of ppl didnt like it that much. However it did get very expensive for me over here in canada it almost came to 100 bucks every time. I guess the only way you will find out if it works is if you try it! Good luck.

I am wondering if anyone knows if this can be used on 7yr old. My son who is 71/2 has a lot of little pimples on his face, chin, nose, cheeks, brow. They come and go but it drives me crazy, I want to clean his pores on his nose everytime he gets close enough for me to squeeze. I am wondering if he has an allergy or if it has something to do with his diet. Anyway iid get him proavtiv if it is safe for children?

I have used proactive for about six months
im still deciding if I like it or not
when I first used it my face went bright red and then dry and flaky but now its all good but I still have pimples just in different spots. I used to have them in the 't' zone area but now I have them on my cheeks and in my hair line. I really hate them. I guess proactive did what it said it would but im not sure if I want to keep using it.

I used proactiv for 4 years and until recently it worked great. I think I am amuned to it now. It's really pricey anyway. I started using st ives apricot scrub, then as a toner use witch hazel , then a mild acne lotion all over. The witch hazel will draw out the makeup or dirt. It also lessens redness and swelling. Its great on bug bites, bruises, just about anything and its only like a dollar a bottle.

I have been using proactiv for about a year and a half after watching it on tv commercials..I researched on this product just in case
my conclusion....At first it was working alright after around 3 weeks...Than my pimples started to break out again...Than it disappeared for a couple of days..But than my acne started to come back again!....
Basically I don`t really like it...I still have small(which turn into serious) pimples no matter what..They always come back....Even if I used it in the morning and at night all the time...
I finally cancelled it last week because I just given up
used at your own risk...Most people have different skin etc
i hope u have more luck than I do

I use proactiv, in order for it to work you need to use it everyday, once you stop the breakouts starts. I try to stop using it for about 3 months just to give face a break. I have also been watching what I eat. Because some foods I eat trigger a mild breakout for me. Proactiv does help control breakouts and even clear up your skin.

Beware of Proactiv Commercial Scam
Posted: 04-27-06 15:59pm

Recently I watched the tv commercial promotion of proactiv of which jessica simpson and some publics were interviewed about the product. Towards the end, the commercial encourage you to buy the product and promise that you can cancel the order but it is not true!!! I went on line to purchase the product for my husband but was later brought to know that my husband is actually sensitive to one of its content, benzoyl peroxide. Hence on that very same day, I called their customer service and expressed my wish to cancel the order. But, the 'friendly' operator told me that they cannot cancel the order! Customer can only cancel for subsequence order. How ridiculous is that! They never state so in the commercial! I told her that surely they can do something to help cancel the order since it was still on processing status, but she claimed that no one can cancel the order and refuse to render any help or solution. Therefore please beware of their commercial scams.

i have a similar problem. This stuff has about 90% cleared up my face but my back is breaking out worse than it used to, and now i'm getting them on my neck and chest! I'm starting to use the stuff on neck and chest (can't reach back) but i'm so afraid that once it kicks in there my back will get even worse and they'll show up on my stomach and legs or something. Soon I will have to wash my whole body in this stuff. It's like my body is determined to break out somewhere. Anyone else have this?
