Q: Do I Have Mono?

I got sick around early may this year. I went down the shore, made out with a girl, the next day I felt sick, and then it got worse, I had a terrible sore throat, and felt very dizzy, naseua, fatigued, headache. I went home, took a week off, and got some medication. I went to the emo (emergency medical office) and I came back negative on a mono spot, but positive for strep. I took augmentum and other antibiotics. *edit* :!: [they didn't seem to work and the doctors concluded that it may be viral and antibiotcs won't do it and i'd have to get better on my own. About a month later, my glands were still swollen and my parents got scared and rushed me off to er, the doctor concluded that I just have big glands, gave me some sterroids and another antibiotic. To remove swelling and fight any bacteria. I felt fine after that but not right away. Now it's back.] :!: *edit* then after that they checked for it and it was gone(the strep), but my glands are still sowllen and now I have reoccuring sore throats, often sometimes I feel tired I work sometime 16 hours a day. But I always get 6-8 hours a sleep during the week and about 8-10 hours a sleep on the weekends. Some days I feel tired even at my earl work starting at 7 am I have to go lie down and take a nap, or drink a bunch of coffee to wake me up. My eyes get itchy, my tounge gets sore, my tounge is white, my glands are still wollen, I woke up with a nose bleed this morning, im coughing. The doctors gut feeling said it's could be chronic tonsillitis and wants to remove my tonsils, and that's not on my agenda. But he checked for another kind of mono that I forgot about, could the first mono spot come back as negative, and then come up later on and I should check for it? I don't know whats going on and no doctors can seem to tell me anything either. :( if you guys can help that'd be great, thanks you so much!

Strep
I work in a hospital and must've gotten exposed to the nastiest strep ever it took 6 months on augmentin to get rid of....You see when you get strep it can take cover in the tonsils, it's what they call a pharmacologic refuge, as it doesn't get good drug penetration...That's why they sometimes wind up removing them, and the bacteria can lurk there, but I didn't want that so I just kept on the augmentin until I was sure I was good, and have been ever since...Maybe you should re-test for strep and maybe try the long term antibiotic approach
if you got mono there's no much you can do except try to de-stress and allow your immune system to take care of it...Shiitake mushrooms help w/t-cell immunity, but mostly lower stress and did you know that though corticosteroids reduce gland inflammation they specifically reduce t-cell immunity needed to fight viruses...Not a good combination for very long

yousound stressed, you might want to whine to mommy to take care of you and go couch potato for a month and get yourself on top of things, no more skanks either

Yeah definetly no more skanks, well she wasn't much of a promiscuous person. But she could have been! Okay she porlly was.

So you think it could be this chrnoc strep that's hard to penetrate with drugs. If a strep test comes back negative... Well I don't have white patches on my glands really though. They're just swollen and red.

The doctor I went to they say is one of the best, that doctors go to, ver thorough, but I don't like his plan it's too narrow, either mono or tonsilitis.

I kind of want a second opinion on this. Because I was feeling better a week or so ago, now it feels liek I have a small cold now.

Possibly from a weaken immune system?

Thank you all again ^^

Other Culprits
Cytomegalovirus, adenovirus, others can cause symptoms

also you can be tested for early (capsule) and late (nuclear) antibodies for mono

you also might have something unrelated, just got run down and picked up a new bugaboo

take it easy, listen to your poor bod, it's screaming at you isn't it? Slow down some, without your health you've got nothing else

I was just put back on augmentin xe I think... After the first 2 tablets my throat feels better.

But it's just how it is. In the morning my throat feels like sh*t. Then in the day my thoat is not sore or at least unbearable. Then at night it feels like sh*t again, and back to the morning. So I just dont get it! >_<

i don't know, maybe I will get htese things ripped out before I do it myself.
