Hi. A good friend of mine recently was diagnosed with cancer. Last year they found a tumor on his kidney. They removed the kidney and he went through chemotherapy. He was told that all the cancer was gone in may. He's just been told that he has a tumor wrapped around his vena cava and they said they don't want to operate. He's only 32 years old so why can't they operate? What other options are there for treatment? Where can I read more about this, as i'm trying to understand more. Any info would be apprecaited. Thank you

Poor person, all the questions you have asked here, you should challenge the hospital that say they wont operate. Its very likely they have a very good reason for not wanting to operate however they should explain to the person in queation why they do not want to operate in full detail.

As for information, again ask your doctor or a nurse or someone to talk you through exactly what it is your unsure about, I couldnt really find any useful info on the web about this situation but I hope it works out well, and remember your doctor is paid a good wage to know most medical things so make sure you put his skills to good use and ask away. Sorry I couldnt be of more help.
