It is natural for people to think that anxiety attacks are caused by specific incidents. They are usually looking for clues of what they were thinking at the time. But anxiety attacks occur at the least expected moments and completely out of the blue.
This all stems from the idea that anxiety attacks are caused by faulty thinking, irrational thinking, requiring in-depth psychotherapy.
The reality is that anxiety attacks are caused by excess adrenaline production due to a biochemical abnormality from within the body and which has little to do with whatever is going on in the environment or the mind.
Excess adrenaline is produced in response to the brain sensing a energy starvation, which then triggers the release of adrenaline. This stress hormone functions to increase blood sugar levels to the brain to feed it again.
The brain is starved of energy (from sugar sources in food) because of insulin resistance, that stops the absorption of glucose into cells (and brain cells).
The non-drug treatment is going on a hypoglycemic diet.
Thus there are no scientific mysteries about anxiety and panic attacks.
