Hey how are you? I'm really ossry you are going through such a tough time right now, but the thing is you ar enot alone. Many people have a cutting problmes and they all can get over it.

The first thing you need to do is tell someone you trust. A freind, a counselor, a teacher, a doctor...And go from there. Often therapy and counseling is the best treatment for cutting problems and are also very effective. You may need an anti-depressant as well. Your doctor is the key to this stuff but if you don't want to talk to him/her straight away the best bet is to talk to any adult.

Cutting is never the answer, you thinks it helps your pain, but soon you will get addicted to it and it will only cause more pain. You seem to have great friends who care about you so mcuh, so ask them for help. You are special to this world and you only live once, be happy.

I know i'm rambling, sorry this is so long but I hope you get the help you need. Take care and hope you feel better. Keep me posted on how you are doing. Bye.

Hello black rain,

self-injury is due to depression, and unless we deal with the depression it would be difficult to stop cutting.

Depression is a biological disorder that is caused by your body's inability to produce a feel good hormone, called serotonin. Without that hormone you will find it difficult to feel happy and as a result you may think that other people or things than yourself is causing you so much psychological pain.

Doctors usually prescribe special antidepressant drugs, but there is a non-drug way of helping your body to manufacture serotonin.

Most people, with depression, including self-cutters, are found to be hypoglycemic meaning they have problems converting the sugars in food to biological energy. That energy is required in order for the body to synthesize the feel good neurotransmitters.

This condition is due to insulin resistance that can be medically tested with a test described at our web site as:

“testing for hypoglycemia and how the doctor can help”

we also have a paper-and-pencil test called the nbi (search web site) and if you score high you are likely to be hypoglycemic that may cause your emotional upsets.

Please discuss this approach with your parents, doctor or therapist, who should be able to explain it to you.

The hypoglycemic diet should get you out of this mess, but this should be done under the supervision of a therapist.
