Hello black rain,
self-injury is due to depression, and
unless we deal with the depression it
would be difficult to stop cutting.
Depression is a biological disorder that
is caused by your body's inability to
produce a feel good hormone, called
serotonin. Without that hormone you will
find it difficult to feel happy and as a
result you may think that other people or
things than yourself is causing you so
much psychological pain.
Doctors usually prescribe special
antidepressant drugs, but there is a
non-drug way of helping your body to
manufacture serotonin.
Most people, with depression, including
self-cutters, are found to be hypoglycemic
meaning they have problems converting the
sugars in food to biological energy. That
energy is required in order for the body
to synthesize the feel good
neurotransmitters.
This condition is due to insulin
resistance that can be medically tested
with a test described at our web site as:
“testing for hypoglycemia and how the
doctor can help”
we also have a paper-and-pencil test
called the nbi (search web site) and if
you score high you are likely to be
hypoglycemic that may cause your emotional
upsets.
Please discuss this approach with your
parents, doctor or therapist, who should
be able to explain it to you.
The hypoglycemic diet should get you out
of this mess, but this should be done
under the supervision of a therapist.
