Hi,

i had a tubal ligation in october and I then went off the pill. In november I had a tummy tuck and I had one period and then no more. My hormones started jumping all over the place and a hormone test seemed to indicate I may have started menopause but I know sometimes after major surgery it can mess you about. I am never, ever late. I went back on the pill because I was so uptight and was going overseas in may and june and didn't want to ruin the holiday - I also started anti-depressants. Anyway, I went back off the pill and again no period. I don't seem to have any other symptoms like hot flashes or anything - just the moods and no period.

Am I right in assuming it is the beginning of menopause? I thought the periods got irregular and heavy, etc. Before disappearing.

Anyway, I am 40 years old and had my first period when I was aged 9. My mum went through menopause at about 42 years old and she went through it fairly quickly.

I would appreciate your views/comments.

Thanks.

Maggie.

Most women do not have bad meno problems so don't assume that you have to fall into one of the suffering categories, it can be a pain but it's not always so bad for most women...Not to deny that it can be bad for some
if it's over it's over ...One year no menses, that's it, get meno test if you want, fsh follicle stimulating hormone which gets high, they're even sold otc now
enjoy your freedom from reproductive problems and tampons
