Depo Experience--please Share And Offer Hope Posted: 07-07-05 22:36pm
I have been reading the postings for a
while before registering and posting
myself. I have searched for others
experiences the depo shot and,
specifically, with loss of sex drive, but
I haven't found the answers I am looking
for.
I had taken depo for a little over 6 years
and stopped taking it in december 2003.
As of today, my sex drive has not returned
(it has now been a total of 1 year 7
months and still counting). Before taking
depo, my sex drive was literally more than
my husband's!!
I really want to hear from others who have
experienced a loss of sex drive, your
experience, and how long did it take for
your sex drive to return to normal after
depo? (whatever normal is for each
individual person) are you still waiting
for your sex drive to return to normal? I
am beginning to wonder if mine will ever
return. I am just as frustrated as my
husband is and feeling more and more
hopeless everyday. Please respond.

there who have experienced a decrease in
there sex drive--i've read the postings.

i was on depo for about 3 years, it was my
first from of bc that i was on and i loved
it! not having to worry about taking pills
everyday was awesome....i then found out
that being on the shot you would have a
higher risk of osteoporosis and shortly
after switched to the pill....i have been
on the pill for about a year and have zero
sex drive......i mean ZERO..lol...its
annoying too, i never thought that it
could have been caused by the shot either
until i read ur post....i still have yet
to find a cure for it, but if u have any
suggestions i am open as well im just
glad im not the only one out there lol

I was horny as heck when I got off of
ortho-lo but that was probably due in part
to the fact that I wasn't having sex
anymore, and I get horny when I don'! I
did notice that it was an almost
overwhelming lust though, my whole body
felt flushed and I was extremely edgy,
like I needed someone to grab and molest!
Now I'm on Depo for... 4 days hahah.

What age did you start depo? It could just
be that you got older if you started it in
your teenage years or early 20's.

depo was my first form of bc i started it
prolly when i was 15 until i was 18

Do you think it could be that your sex
drive is just lower now than when you were
15? Just a guess...
But if you have a low sex drive, you can
talk to your doctor about it. She'll want
to check that there aren't any other
issues (physical) at play that are causing
it and then can perhaps address your sex
drive and help to boost it.
