i had my baby 2 years ago and i bled for 3 and half weeks. it ranges from person to person, also depending on your delivery. if there were any tears or stitches your going to bleed longer. Also breastfeeding helps bring your uterus down to size so your bleeding will be reduced.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! WHY DID I HAVE TO READ THIS?? I am due to give birth in a couple of DAYS and being my first pregnancy I was completely oblivious to bleeding after birth! Does it have anything to do with how your periods were? My periods were light and only lasted 3days does that mean I will bleed less? I was aware of not being able to do exercise for a couple of weeks and a couple of weeks without sex but oblivious to PP bleeding!! I have even planned a little get away 7weeks after my daughter is born ... I am devostated. Hehe I feel stupid Sad

Auzzi,
Don't feel stupid and don't worry so much about it. Everyone is different. Most people only bleed for 2 to 3 weeks. Then you have freaks like me who are still bleeding 9 weeks later...what great fun!
To answer your other question, bleeding after childbirth has nothing to do with the way your periods were. In my situation my periods were never really heavy and I would only bleed for 5 days. The bleeding that I experienced after having my son was much different. I'm not trying to scare you, I think my situation is less common. Try not to worry about it, you have better things to think about now.
Congratulation and enjoy every minute with your little one.

quarter size? Like clots? No your period should come as normal. Go see your doctor and see what they think.
