Does Anyone Have These Symptoms? Posted: 05-03-06 23:04pm
I just found this forum and read all the
messages and for the first time since I
got hives 3 months ago I feel relief.
I'm almost postive after reading
everyone's post I have cu, and it started
because of stress.
I don't know if anyone has this problem
but I seem to react to almost everything
now. For example, I put lip balm on i've
been using for years and my lips swelled.
My regular vitamins make me break out.
Food makes me break out unless it's very
bland. I broke out from tagamet the
doctor subscribed for hives. I didn't
even try the antihistamine he gave me.
The least bit of anxiety and I get itchy.
I don't sweat and haven't had a cold in
years just like others said.
I tried lacitrex but it didn't help too
much. I also take quercetin, b-complex,
b12, pycnoginol, nettle, milk thistle,
digestive aids without hydrochloric acid,
go to acupuncture every week, am trying
naet allergy testing, and biofeedback(just
started).
Two things I have since getting hives that
I didn't read anyone else having is I now
can't tolerate anything acidic like tomato
sauce, vinegar, etc. I have a major
breakout, and got acid reflux when the
hives started. I also breakout really
badly every night about 15 minutes after I
get into bed. I think it has something
to do with getting warm with even a sheet
on me and my head against the pillow or
maybe just lying down, but it's only at
night. It starts with my head getting
hot and itching then it spreads downward
and I get hives and itch for about 3
hours. Does anyone have any of those
symptoms?

M77, damn that sucks you have way worse
than I do. I have zero reactions to
anything but only any rise in body
temperature that causes me to break out,
but the antihistamines block it 100%. I
think I have candida that is all glogged
up with parasites and fungi and bacteria
which is a good candidate to cause the
onset of my hives. I've been constipated
for like forever, it's normal once you've
had for many many years, but that can
cause cancer. One of these days i'll have
to eliminate all the junk that eat and do
a candida cleanse. It's not like urgent,
but I think i'll do it soon.

M77 maybe you should try resting/sleeping
a lot more. Even if you break out before
you sleep, you should try to sweat it out
by doing the steam/hot shower way or the
exercise way. Maybe that will do
better.
And speaking of sleep. How often/long do
you guys sleep?

I love to stay up at night. It's
peaceful. I'd have to say I sleep from
11-12am and wake up at 5. I sleep solid
as bricks. And i'm a very sound sleeper.

Am I Infected With Cu Posted: 05-06-06 08:56am
Hi, i'm 22years old and new here. I
wish to know a few thing about cu because
i'm currently having some rashes which I
can't explain.
I live in hot tropical country which is
hot all the time, and I never had any
allergy record toward food or having
problem with hot weather. I sweat a lot
during sport day back in the highschool
but I had never have any problem regarding
cu.
I'm now in australia and it's autumn here,
I being joining gym since february and do
running for 30mins followed by 30mins
weightlifting. In april, I discover
that I have rashes which located on my
chest, and it spread to my back and
shoulder after a week. I checked with
doctor and he gave me antibiotic and
ointment to fight it. The rashes
dissapear in 1 week time and I feel
relief. However, now in may, the rashes
appear again and it spread to my chest,
shoulder, stomach and back.
I have a few question regarding this:
- am I infected with cu?
- if it's cu, will it be permenant to me,
which mean I no longer able to do
exercise, eat heaty food which I use to
eat?
- is it possible for someone who doesn't
hold any cu record infected by it, whats
the reason behind it.
- is there any cure that is permenant for
cu, or at least preventing it? I heard
of antihistamine however it make ppl
feeling dizzy and sleepy as side effect.
- I normally eat 2 eggs and drink a glass
of milk an hr before I work out in gym,
and normally eat sushi or salmon after
work out, do this food one of the reason
or cause for cu?

Dear all,
i also have cu (diagnosed today) at the
moment im not taking anything for it as I
find antihistamines simply do not work.
I was wondering how many of you found
the organic and accupunture treatment
worked?
Avoiding e numbers is said to give
slight relief e102 tartrazine(found in
yellow food colouring) ,e210-220(in spicy
foods)
I heard that beta blockers can be used
to control the condition, has anybody been
perscribed these, if so do they work?
Just a quick question for cdz19 did you
experience any side effects with the
lacitrex?
Thanks in advance

Hey sean3000.. If you go to the previous
page.. Or maybe page 5.. I have a list
of things that ive used to be breakout
free for over a month...
Souldiver.. I believe most breakouts are
allergy related.. You could be allergic
to the food you eat, the water you drink..
The lotion you use.. Whatever may come
into contact with your body may be causing
a breakout...

Thanks for that jimmi i'l be sure to check
those products out.
The past couple of days instead of getting
the small red spots all over ive noticed
this has changed and i'm now getting large
area's of reddness/blotches, anyone else
experienced this?
I wonder if I should be concerned about
this

Sean3000, could just mean that the reason
you had a different outbreak then previous
outbreaks is because your body is more
susceptible. Like for me, my medicines
half life is 2-3days. Which in other
words, the medicine will remain in my body
for for 2-3days and then start to wear
off. During the period where the meds
wear off, I only get small spaced red
dots, continuing to not take medicine
results in massive body breakout since
there is no antibodies to work.

Steam Room Treatment Posted: 05-09-06 00:55am
It's been about a week since I started the
organic treatment and there are
noticiebable effects...
The attacks have lost a good deal of
intensity, and don't happen as often.
I noticed the other day, when I wore my
hat, that after I sweated a little...The
attacks completely went away, which got me
thinking...
I should get a health club membership just
to use the steamroom/sauna, early in the
morning to sweat it out so I won't have to
worry the rest of the day...Just until I
go to the alternative healthcare physician
and he can help cure me.
Any comments or suggestions on this
treatment (steamroom/sauna) would be
great...
Now that laundry detergent has been
eliminated as an irritant, and I know that
it wasn't toothpaste or any kind of food.
I can pretty much determine now it's got
something to do with me sweating....It
looks like i'm getting closer to finally
beating this thing...Wish me luck. :)

Thats great news cdz19 I might look into
that myself, my condition has definatly
changed I had 5 attacks today and im at a
real low point! The summer weather is
definatly taking its toll on me, thanks
for the reply josh I think that your
right. I'd love to hear from anyone who
has been on beta blockers for this
condition. From what I kno about them,
they relax you and make you feel less
nervous (key factors in this condition)

Sean3000:
i'm not sure what cause the breakout too,
since I don't hold any record in the past
related to food and I don't use body
products. The breakout normally start in
the middle of my chest, and it spread,
it's normally take 3 days to spread to
whole chest area, shoulder and back.
When I exercise, I don't feel itch,
however around evening and night it start
to itch and sometime sting. I do some
reading, some recommend to have hot bath
or steam room to release sweat, while most
of the source told me not to heat up my
body, i'm pretty confuse which is true and
which is not. I confront a doctor around
april when I 1st get the hives and the
doctor doesn;t really sure what happen and
give me some ointment and antibiotic, I
was cure in a week, however the rash come
back in middle of may and now I still have
it, they doesn't go away unlike some of
you and it stay with me permanently.
Imo, I believe it has to be something to
do with me undergoing exercise daily or
maybe is the diet which is high protein
and low carb. Anyone who has similiar
situation like mine please give me some
information.

Souldiver, having hot baths and showers
washes away the bodys natural oils and
causes dry skin. In my condition (may be
different with other people) the urticaria
gets worse when my skin is dry. The fact
that you say it takes 3 days would perhaps
suggest that it isnt cholinergic
urticaria, cu tends to be a condition that
effects patients perhaps twice or 3 times
a day. The hives usualy appear and go
within the space of half an hour,
the advice I would give you would be to
take some photos of the rash and show them
to your doctor from there he will probably
perscribe you with an antihistmine such as
zirtec.

Sick of Hives Posted: 05-23-06 20:27pm
Hi,
i'm new here, but m77, your post could
have been written by me three years ago.
They finally went away after 8 months and
I thought i'd found the perfect cure.
But after an especially stressful day at
work two months ago they are back now with
a vengence and the natural "cure" which
worked so well then isn't even touching it
this time.
Three years ago I was finally referred to
an allergist who put me on 5 different
antihistimines every day and 20 mgs of
prednisone to take every other day. On
the "on" days of prednisone the hives were
almost gone but the "off" days they always
came back. I had tried everything and
then stumbled onto a website about bovine
colostrum. It said that studies showed
that it balanced out the immune system.
I tried it and within a month the hives
were gone. I'd have staked my life on it
working always and forever for me but this
time it hasn't helped at all.
My condition is autoimmune related. The
allergist tested me for over 100 things
and I wasn't allergic to any of them.
I tried the histimine diet,..For only one
day because that night and the next day
were the worst yet. Maybe I just need to
give it more time but I figured if i'm
going to be miserable I might as well eat
what I want in the process.
I also am on a beta-blocker and the hives
started within a few weeks of my starting
it so I thought it might be related. I
stopped taking it for a few days (not a
good idea) but it didn't make any
difference.
My routine is to get up about 1:00 to 3:00
a.M. And shower off. Then I rub down
with alcohol using cotton balls. Then I
slather on noxema and grab the ice cubes
and rub all over the hives where the
noxema is. It seems to help more than
just ice or noxema alone. That stops the
reaction for awhile.
Getting really sick of waking up in the
morning with a face that looks like a
prize figher,..Who lost.
Like one poster here say,..You really
become a recluse. Thank god for make-up
or I wouldn't even be able to go to
work.
Sure hope we all find something that works
,...And keeps working.
God bless to all and praying for a cure.

Progress So Far Posted: 05-29-06 06:36am
Ok, so now i've tried the following:
traditional chinese medicine
buscopan
lacitrex
accupuncture
none of which did anything.
I went to see a herbalist last week in
wales with a vegatest machine, which sends
electric signals through your accupuncture
points to test for allergies etc.
Apparently my body had a bad reaction to a
diptheria vaccine when I was younger, and
it has now chosen to manifest this
reaction later on in life with cholinergic
urticaria. This diptheria jab has caused
me to now become allergic to diesel fumes
and tea (strange I know!) and the
herbalist tested for antidotes, and he
found that half a paracetamol per day
should stop the allergies, and from there
stop the cholinergic urticaria. (he also
tested for one tablet of paracetamol, but
that did not work).

Hives And Re-occuring Fever Update Posted: 05-29-06 08:25am
Ok,.. So I finally went back to the
doctor. Along with the relentless hives
i've had for the past 3 months now, I kept
getting a sore throat and fever once a
week or two. I've been reading how a
chronic infection can cause hives so I
convinced the doctor to put me on
antibiotics. He also gave me another
"z-pac" 6 day step down cortisol
treatment. The antibiotic is one they
give for strep throat infections.
Tomorrow will be the last day I take any
cortisol and today is the last day of the
antibiotics. Usually by now (on this low
a dose of cortisol "methylprednisolone")
the hives would be coming back with a
vengence, but (fingers cross) yesterday
and today i'm practicly hive free! In
fact my hives are always far worse at
night and I wake up looking like I had
wallowed in a bee hive but this morning,
not one hive!
I also have done some reading up on how
physical and emotional stress can make our
adrenal glands sluggish which can cause
hives too. Since the cortisol the doctor
prescribed is actually an adreal hormone,
and it suppresses the hives I thought that
sluggish adrenals might be a possibility
too. So i've been taking mega dosses of
"super quercitin". It contains
quercitin, vitamin c, bromelain, citrus
bioflavonoids, hesperidin, rose hips,
acerola, and rutin. All of those are
natural flavonoids which are supposed to
help the vascular system and adrenal
glands.
I don't know if it's the antibiotic or
this suppliment i've been taking or both,
that has put the hives in remission. I
took the suppliment before with no affect
but then I read that you have to take
enough to get 4000 milligrams of vitamin c
for it to really work so I started taking
big dosses. Adrenal glands need lots of
vitamin c to work well especally if they
are stressed.
Anyway,.. I am so very hopeful that this
will be the end of hives for me forever.
I pray that everyone else who experiances
this horrible life debiliting condion will
find a cure and relief as well. I hope
maybe some of the info from my experiance
will help someone out there.
Blessings to all, :-)

Hey everyone,
my cholinergic urticaria has pretty much
disappeared spontaneously. I know this
sounds like a bad thing, but it should
provide some hope that your ailment could
cure anyday. I started taking
antihistamines in conjunction with my more
"eastern" homeopathic and acupuncture
medicines, so maybe that was the trick.
Never stop trying to cure it. Good luck
everyone!

My Experience Posted: 05-31-06 22:08pm
Hello all,
i have been suffering cholinergic
urticaria going on about 14 years. Below
are my observations:
-weather and environment is key factor.
Outbreak can occur more frequently in dry
and temperature mild to cold weather.
Because you don't sweat a lot and
histamine builds up. Once you sweat, you
will experience the breakout.
-so if you are lucky enough to live in a
tropical-like climate, as I had from one
time to another, the condition will
disappear as you are almost constantly
sweating.
-i am currently doing sauna on a daily
basis with cold shower afterward. It
helps control the condition so the
breakout is often none to light.
Hope this helps, and let's all pray for a
magic cure one day!

I agree that "sweating out" the histamine
is the only thing that works consistently.
The more I workout and suffer the
itching the better the condition gets.
I have tried almost everything and
sweating is the only way to deal with
this. Atleast I get a day free of
itching and hives after a good workout.
If I am going to be in public and know the
attack may come I make sure to sweat prior
to this and it helps dramatically. The
more I workout...I sweat easier and
quicker and the itching is much less.
If I skip workouts...It takes longer to
sweat and the itching is
ridiculous.
i'm going to try this 'sweating it out
thing' because I went to a barbecue last
weekend and was nervous about breaking
out...Which led to sweating...Which led to
an outbreak. But after that had
happened, the hives faded away and I was
fine for the rest of the evening.
Definately something to try.
