Morning Sickness
Posted: 06-29-05 19:33pm

Hello!

I'm about 5 weeks pregnant and I have had morning sickness since about maybe week 4 - I notice though that I will have horrible nausea, no desire to eat, and throwing up at least once a day.

Then it will go away slightly - the nausea and vomiting for about 1-2 days. This has happened twice.

Today is wednesday - I felt horrible monday and tuesday, up until tuesday evening when I craved mashed potatoes. So I ate a little mashed potatoes and felt better. Then wednesday morning, I ate crackers before I got out of bed and while I don't feel 100% like myself, I could get through the day without naseau.

I'm worried that there might by something wrong or is this normal??

This is completely normal. Some women have it for the entire 9 months..While others have it a couple weeks...Days...Or never..(like me)...
I was lucky enough to not have any morning sickness at all.

You'll get over it... Just think at the end what kind of prize you'll get for going through it...

Good luck

Ok, then I guess I feel a little more comfortable. I just got nervous that if the morning sickness went away so suddenly before the anticipated 12th week, there was something wrong with the baby. I'm just nervous until I see my doctor and know everything is ok with the baby.

I didn't have any problems with my daughter. No morning sickness or anything.

Dont worry.... Ur morning sickness is not even as bad as it gets...My morning sickness started at about 7 weeks and it was bad...I could not eat or drink anything...I threw up at least 5-6 times a day and when I didnt have food in the tummy I would throw up stomach acids (its soo gross).. Well I am now 15 weeks and so far i've lost close to 18 pounds.. Although I am starting to feel better..... So ur totaly fine and this is normal...

Nothing is wrong. My fiance's sister had the same issue. It looks like it runs in the family. She was sick everyday nearly 24 hours a day. She couldn't hold food down at all. After eating a little she'd throw it back up. She spend her first pregnancy horrified. Then for her second pregnancy the doc prescribed her a medicine that reduces morning sickness.

Her mother was the same way. Sick everyday during her 4 pregnancies and every kid is a-ok!!

Can morning sickness happen anytime of the day? I'm not sure but I feel horrible after I get through eating. Also what is a good website that will tell you week by week how you feel and what is happening to your body?

Hi! I'm 11 weeks and I feel the sickest in the afternoons and around tea time. My mum gave me a book to read to help me answer questions and queries I have... It's called everywoman. It's great, it shows you pictures of the baby at certain weeks and tells you what you can expect in the coming weeks.

Ha !! I have that same book. I've got a couple of good ones.

This is my 2nd pregnancy, the first time 'round I was never sick at all- a couple of morning's I didn't feel fabulous, but once I got up, dressed and out to work I was fine- I could even drink a coffee once I got there (just one a day)
this time, I started feeling sick before I even missed my period, and it was on and off throughout the day, it got worse and worse for the next few weeks- i'd wake up in the middle of the night sick, and not be able to go back to sleep. I wasn't hungry, and couldn't stand the thought of most foods. It peaked when I was about 8 or 9 weeks along- by that stage all I could face eating was oranges, icy poles(ice-lollies, popsicles whatever) and occasionally, every copuple of days or so, a toasted cheese sandwich. Nothing helped. It all stopped pretty suddenly at about 10 weeks or so.
I was lucky it ended so early- my friend's mum was still throwing up on the morning she gave birth, with all 3 of her kids!!!!
I've heard a sudden absence of pregnancy symptoms can be a sign of miscarriage, but it wasn't in my case- anyway, I had other sypmtoms besides nausea-like brest soreness, and frequent urination- i'm now 23 weeks along, and my nipples are still sore, and I still have to get up 3 or 4 times a night to urinate.
I wouldn't worry too much about the sickness coming and going. I'd make the most of the good days, and only worry if I had cramps or bleeding or something more obvious like that.
