Hello everyone! I hope you're all doing great. First off, i'm sorry if I am posting this in the wrong forum, but I have been having red eyes for the last month. About 4 weeks ago people started asking me why my eyes were red...At the time I didn't notice it myself and it was new to me. So about a week later my eyes were still red. At this time the left eye was a little more red than the right and the redness was not major just minor. At this time I used visine, which did not work, so I tried some bausch and lomb eye drops for allergies and that did not work either. So I finally decided to head to my school clinic where I met with a doctor. The doctor told me that it was allergies and it was something in the air causing the redness in my eyes. She gave me allegra and told me to continue using my eye drops and to come back if the redness was still there. So I used these products yet the redness did not go away! I went back the the clinic and that doctor was not there so I met with a different doctor. He told me to stop using allegra, because I didn't have allergies (due to the fact that I was not sneezing nor having anytype of flu/cold type sympthoms). So he prescribed me some eye drops for infected eyes. (the eye drops name=sulfacetamide sodium made by bausch and lomb) he told me to meet with him again within two days. After two days the redness was still there and it was getting a little worse. Now I started to feel itching, watering, and burning sensations. And when I used these drops they really burned my eyes! So after I met with him again he told me to meet with the optometrist, because he did not know what the problem with my eyes were. The optometrist examined my eyes for a while and concluded that I had an eye virus. He told me its like having the flu or cold, but in my eyes. He told me to stop using eye drops and only use artificial tears or a cold compress whenever my eyes start to irritate. He said that my eyes would fight the virus and clean the redness in a week or if it doesnt to meet with him again. Its been well over a week and I still have the redness and it is really upsetting me! Somedays its very very mild and some nights it gets very severe. I can't do anything, everytime I try to go out my eyes start to irritate and I end up having to go back home. If anyone can help me please fill me in. These red eyes are driving me nuts! I just finished my 2nd year of college and I am on summer break and it is horrible! I can't even look for a job, because employers might think i'm on drugs when they see my red eyes! I don't know why this is happening to me, I am a very very healthy person. I have a very clean diet, I exercise 5 days a week and I get in all my vitamins everyday (from real fruits). Please if anyone has an information please help me out. Thank you.

Dry Eyes
Hi,

that sounds like dry eyes and/or blepharitis. I've been stuck in that h*ll for 12 years and it's like living in prison. You should try theratears artificial tears. Search the internet for more information.
