My daughter is 7; she woke up one morning with her ear all red, swollen, and crusted. I cleaned it and applied antibiotic ointment; it was better for a couple of days, and the infection comes back. This has been about 6 weeks now. At first I thought it was a bite then I thought maybe she left conditioner in her ear. It seems to get worse after being in the sun. This is the outer portion of the ear. Any suggestions? Should I call a dermatologist or her pediatrician? Lisalaz

Ear Lobe
Hi there......I get a similar sort of thing....I'm 23 and about a year a half ago my left ear became red, swollen and crusty with blisters on it..i went to my doctors and they thought it was Infertigo and gave me antibiotics just incase, the antibiotics didn't really help but it settled and went away but mr ear was still really sensitive and if it got knocked the infection would come back up, i had it 3 times within the space of 6-8months and was refered to see a specialist who told me it was a type of ezcema. He gave me some cream called polyfax and it went away and seemed to be healing up until a few days ago when it has come back. I'm still not sure that it is ezcema. I hope u find out what it is, its sore, nasty looking and uncomfortable. Gemma

Gemma. Sounds like it may be "Swimmers Ear". This is one of the symptoms of "Diabetes Type 2". Get your Blood sugar levels checked out. Angus.
