Q: Can Kidney Problems Cause Side Effects to Medications?

Has anyone had any problems with side effects from taking medications after developing kidney problems or urinary retension? Most of my medications seem to make me sick, anything from causing uti's, headaches, nausea, muscle spasms, all over cramping, numbness & tingling and irregular heartbeats. I have bilateral hydronephrosis so I wonder if it could cause such extreme side effects because i'm retaining urine or if any other kidney problems could cause worse side effects. Any help would really be apprieciated. Thanks!
