Q: Paranoid And Could Use Your Comments

Alittle history - I went off the pill 2 months ago. My first period was right on time. I'm still waiting for my second period, which is now 5 days late. No pregnancy symptoms whatsoever except for the lack of period.

Whenever i've had sex with my husband, I have used a spermicide and he has pulled out. He had a vacestomy (sp?) several months ago, but his last sperm sample had one dead sperm in it, so I guess we're still not safe, hence the caution.

Is there any chance of me being pregnant? I have been an absolute stressed out mess all week worried about this

I had a similiar situation....I went off the pill beginning of april, had normal period cycle, then next month period was 2 weeks, 3 days late! But then I got it. I was hoping to be pregnant, so was thinking I had symptons. Obviously they were in my head.

Anyway, my point is your cycle is adjusting and I think it's totally normal to be irregular.

The chance that only one out of one sperm would actually survive and fertilize an egg in less than .001%, especially since it is unlikely that you are ovulating due to discontinuing your birth control. Your cycle is mixed up right now from stopping your birth control. You will probably experienc spotting on and off for months. Your doctor can regulate your period and get it back on track by prrescribing you only 5 pills of provera. Within 48 hours your period will start and it should throw it back on track. If the provera makes you period start then obviously you are not pregnant. If you dont, then I guess (unlikely) you could be and the provera will not harm the fetus either. Hope this helps

debbeard79 - thank you so much for a "professional" opinion. It puts my mind at ease, that's for sure! I always thought dead sperm=infertile sperm, but wasn't sure. That said, I don't quite understand why my husband's Dr. Didn't give us a "green light" for unprotected sex after this last sperm sample. Oh well!
