I'll explain my problem... Im 20 years
old and had asthma all my life
basically when I was 18 years old, some
guy I used to hang out with offered me
weed to smoke. I decided to smoke it and
yes my breathing was really good (i have
asthma) but then all of the sudden I
started feeling the tightness feel in my
throat like something was stuck there. It
felt like that for a good while but it
felt like it went away. I started smoking
weed but it wasnt like an everyday thing,
I would only smoke with friends like every
couple of weeks to a couple of months. I
went to a doctor to get my throat checked
but he saw nothing and he suggested
gargling with saltwater.... I stopped
smoking weed of november 2004 and I was
prescribed some green liquid to gargle my
throat but that didnt work, and I got in
x-ray done on my throat and they found
nothing. So then I went to a throat
specialist on may 30 2005, and the doctor
put a wire through one of my nostrils to
see the inside of my throat. He said it
is nothing and its probably anxiety. But
what I dont understand is how can it be
anxiety, I havent beem stressed out before
the week I went to see the throat
specialist. I got an allergic test done
to see if I was allergic to grass and I am
but the doctor said it has nothing to do
with the weed I smoked. Today I just
gargled my throat with saltwater and that
didnt help much. When I eat and drink its
fine, like no problems, I dont have any
hard time swallowing my own spit or
anything, I use too but I got prescibed
some pill and my throat wasnt red and I
didnt have any hard times swallowing, but
now all of the sudden it feels like a
weird tightness in my throat.
By pushing on the cartilage in the neck
just below the adams apple thats what it
would feel like. It doesnt interfere with
my breathing, like its fine, it just feels
uncomfortable...

I have this for over a year also trapped
wind and constant burping I just have to
suffer, doctors are thick cunts they
havent a clue

Mcrob- same here... I haven't found a
cure to it-nor has my doctor. For me it
usually happens when I don't have anything
to do. When i'm occupied with anything I
don't get the sensation. I think its
purely psychological. It's sorta like
the tightness in the throat you get right
before you're about to cry- is that how it
feels for you as well?

Man ive had this same throat tightness but
also with a crazy head pressure that comes
on at the same time.Like I feel really
vague but its not actually pain like a
headache.The reason im replying is that
you brought up the weed thing and I hadnt
actually thought of that....
I was smoking weed all day everyday for 6
going on 7 years and just finally all of a
sudden got up and quit about a month
before this neck tightness came on....I
never felt it at all while I was smoking.I
still smoke cigs though while I didnt
smoke nearly as many over the last few
years.
I have had no light shed on the neck
tightness by doctors-you just have to keep
going to diff ones and a ent specialist to
try and get some help.Doctors seem
apprehensive to prescipe me muscle
relaxants(probably cause im 22) but I feel
like thats what I really need.The
tightness is driving me crazy.Theres a few
other threads going in this forum about
throat tightness and a thing called
cricopharyngeal spasms(google it) has been
mentioned which kind of sounds
right...Except mines gone on for a few
months not weeks...
I really hope you get to the bottom of it
and now im worried/thinking it might have
something to do with weed....Could be an
acid reflux?But thats just a guess....I
really dont think its an adverse reaction
to smoking but weed does medical question
with your muscles so im not really sure.If
anything weed should make the throat
muscle thats tight relax and feel
better....
