Hello,
this has been going on for awhile. Let me explain the whole story.
It all started in march of 2005. My bf was having dizziness, a sinus headache, and a popping sound in his ears. We ended up going to th dr for it. The dr, or should I say, nurse practitioner(np), did an exam on him and found fluid buildup in both his ears. She then prescribed some amoxicillin and some nasal spray for him to take, as well as some zyrtec. Well once his antibiotics ran out, he was still having dizziness. (with just the symptoms as listed above), so we went back to the np, and she started ordering all these different tests, which included an ekg, an echocardiogram, a ct scan, as well as a 24 hour holter monitor. The holter monitor test revealed one 4.2 second pause in his heart, which prompted us to visit the head cardiologist at kdmc, the medical center the tests were performed at. Anyhow, the head cardiologist does a complete heart exam on him, including a live ekg test on him right there in the office, reads the ekg right there, and pronounces his heart as just fine. By the way, the results of the tests came back, and were as follows:
ct scan: normal
ekg: normal
echo: normal
at any rate, before we went to the cardiologist, we had a followup visit with the np, who, at my request, took a look inside his ears and still found remaining fluid buildup in both ears!!! :!: so, to make a long story short, he is on meclizine 12.5mg still experiencing dizziness, and he says every time he experiences the dizziness he has a popping sound in his ears. We have him also on 250mg zithromax which he had a leftover zithromax zpack from when he was in the navy and didn't need it when they gave it to him.
:?: :?: :?: :?: my question for you is what next?!?!?!? :?: :?: :?: :?:
god only knows we dont want to go back to that incompetant np, who just as well may refer him to a general surgeon for his dizziness!!!(note my utmost sarcastic tone in that statement!)
you shoulda seen how the cardiologist's attitude changed in the negative when he heard that he was seeing a np instead of an md, or even that an np had referral powers like that!!!!!
