I am 27-i have kind of always been anti-social and very shy. I prefer being alone or in small groups, it kills me if I have to go to the grocery store. I live in a small town and I am worried that I might run into someone I wont want to. I am not guilty of anything I just am weird about talking to people. I am more confident around people I don't know than people I do. I am basically a hermit crab! What kind of help would I need to seek to overcome this? Any suggestions will help. Thank you.

Nebraska you still there? Its anxiety I think. And one of these days you are just gonna have to 'face your fears'. I know it is uncomfortable to walk past someone you may know whether alot or little because you dont knwo whether to say hi or to just look down and ignore them or you just dont feel like talking to them at all. I know how you feel. I felt like that for some time too. And there are still ppl I know that I dread having to say hi too when I know they are walking towards me. Its annoying as the feeling is so awkward but you just have to keep your chin up and overcome the irrational thoughts that are making you afraid of the situation.
