I have been ill with a repiratory infection for 6 weeks - it started out as bronchitis. Visited Dr. 4 days into it and was put on cipro - it did nothing so she put me on tequin - I had a reaction to tequin so she put me on doxycycline because I am allergic to most antibiotics. Doxy helped but after 2 weeks I was somewhat better but not completely. Sent to ent who did allergy skin testing and only thing that came back was a dust allergy. My lung function was at 80%. He prescribed flovent and serevent. Did a chest xray and a ct of sinuses and blood work. Xray was fine, ct showed a cyst in my sinus cavity but no infection. Blood work showed a low positive for mycoplasma pneumoniae but normal on the cbc. Ent prescribed a nasal spray to reduce post nasal drip. My ribs are sore from coughing, I feel fatigued, my voice is barely audible (was really raspy for 2 weeks then semi normal now this). Still having constant throat clearing, cough is better than it was but still bad and I have no energy. Mucus is clear.
I'm getting sick and tired of being sick and tired. Any suggestions of what else I can do? How can these things last this long?
