I had excactly the same problem, i was getting a fishy odour coming from down there and i couldnt get rid of it. After you have had a shower, prop your leg up on a chair and blowdry under there until it is dry (I know it sounds wierd and looks ridiculous) I dry it again after a couple of minutes to make sure it is completely dry. It sounds odd, but it worked great for me. \i didnt have any more trouble and it started smelling fine again straight away. You see, the smell is probably old water, if you shower alot like i did. If you blowdry down there after showers it stops the smelling completely. Dont worry about any medicines or anything. My friend was prescribed this from a doctor and i tried it and its brilliant.

Hope this helped

Well im a bloke so cant really advise in certain things but all i can say is that if it is REALLY bad get advice from a doc as you may have some kind of infection but you must remember that it is normal to have a stronger odour bown there on or around your period and from experiance a girls vaginas always has some kind of odour even imediately after washing... Also i must add i love the smell of a smelly vagina its a nice smell and a big turn on, also the same applies to most men as far as i know and is very normal.

Hi I had a vaginal odar for a while ,I tried the vinger and baking soda it did work some but it kind of dried me out. What the main problem is keeping the right the PH balance down there to control the bacterial. Most of the times bacterial vaginosis is what is causing the odor.

Alright, I'm seeing an awful lot of horrible and even dangerous advice here. Number one: Do not keep a tampon in all the time to try and 'keep yourself dry.' They are not made for constant use, only when on your period, and even then it isn't recommended for long stretches of time.

Number two: avoid raw onions, fish, or garlicky foods if it bothers you a lot. Drink A LOT of water. Your body needs a bare minimum of 2 quarts (that's half a gallon or eight cups) of water daily to function. Ideally, you should be getting closer to a gallon if you're a relatively active person. Speaking of which: walk or exercise, it helps get you sweating, which helps get proteins out of your body.

People really need to remember that there are also good bacterium, and douching or applying stinky cremes will throw off the pH of your vaginal area. Go to the doctor if you are worried, but don't go slathering yourself in drugstore cremes because of a smell. If it isn't a medical condition, it's probably just what you've been eating. I hope you're okay, and I hope this helps.

Are you washing it properly? I am 15 and did have the same problem a few months ago my self! My vagina got rather smelly and I went to see a doc but it just turned out that I wasn't washing and drying it properly when I thought I was which was rather embarrassing. The nurse at my local docs clinic showed me my own vagina in front of a magnifying mirror which I had never done before and she explained and showed me the best way of washing my vagina.

Basically to do it thoroughly you need your legs spread apart as wide as possible in the bath or stood squat down and legs wide apart in a shower. You also must open your lips by spreading them apart with two fingers and pulling upwards as much as possible to reveal your inner labia and clitoris. With the other hand wash all this area you have now revealed with a non scented natural soap and a SOFT sponge. Washing especially under the clitoral hood (which can be very sensitive) and in the folds of skin at the bottom of you flaps (inner labia) as this area can start to smell if it is not washed especially if you have large inner labias like I do as this creates a bigger crevice or fold.

Also it is just as important to dry your vagina as it is to wash it. You do this by patting it with a dry flannel once you have got OUT of the bath or shower (for obvious reasons) remembering to dry both sides of each flap and in any other folds as some vaginas will have more folds than others. This should also be done in the same position i.e. legs apart and lips spread to make sure you reach all areas as any stagnant water WILL start to smell very quickly once you have closed your legs because of the lack of air circulation in your crevices and folds and your warm body heat just in the same way it does in your arm pits etc.

I have the same problem...it's never going to smell like roses, but there are a few things you can do to help with your issue:

Blood is a wonderful growth medium. Change your tampon more often and try to go with just pads overnight. When not on your period, try not to use panty liners and sleep without underwear. The hairdryer trick is absolutely a must--my OBGYN also recommended it to me. Take a multivitamin, eat right, work out more, and don't wear underwear when you can get away with it (when you're puttering around in the morning after your shower, stay in your bathrobe as long as possible).

Don't douche! That'll just throw off your PH balance. Prolong baths can also do the same (as can bath salts/bubbles). Use regular soap or anti-bacterial body wash down there, change your wash cloth regularly (don't use the same old body sponge every day!), wash towels and sheets regularly, and drink more water.

BACTERIA INFECTION
That is called a bacteria infection...signs of it are fishy or crabby odor which is unnormal..you get this when you are sexual (unprotected-the guys cum has a ph) and when u use alot of perfumes on u or your clothes. they have a pill and vaginal gel for that..it somes from open your vagina to wide a washing it...instead of washing the dirt away you are rubbing the bad dirt and good dirt (better word is ph) never douche!!! even though your period is off douching causes the good ph to mix with the bad ph causing an awful odor. also how you wash your clothes..soap, detergent, and perfum can all have a harmful effect on your vagina area....its called a bacteria infection and is completely normal in women...look it up..all the signs are there.

Food allergy!
It could be food allergy. Once I stopped eating wheat and dairy I smelled fine again. Try a food elimination diet. As a side note I lost 6 pounds in two weeks from eating healthier. You have nothing to lose!!!

A lot of women have experienced this condition and there are those who are recurrently experiencing it. The most common culprit that causes vaginal odors is bacterial vaginosis, also known as BV, which is a common vaginal infection.
BV is caused by the imbalance of good and bad bacteria in the vagina. Remember, everybody has good and bad bacteria in their body. However, due to factors such as weakened immune system, the bad bacteria outnumber the good ones thus making way for infections.
Aside from a smelly vagina, it is common for you to feel itchiness and uneasiness, which is also a symptom of bacterial vaginosis. Your vaginal discharge would also have a foul and fishy odor.
I suffered from this same problem and the good news is that there is a cure.

Well, what the HECKY IS IT? lol
Well, what the Hecky is it!? lol How are you gonna say, "...good news is that there is a cure." Without providing the CURE?

I have been diagnosed with BV....Im tired of going through this, and Im tired of ppl trying to make money off of me...Im tired of trying EVERYTHING to no avail! UGH! Im so sick of the dag gum odor...UGH, the itching UGGGH, and the dag gum ODOR!!! sheesh...
I feel like I've tried EVERYTHING shy of sticking a grenade in there! It's like I didn't have it, and all of a sudden it just showed up...now, I can't get it to go away, and it is BAAAAD!

I mean, fresh out of the shower, fully clothed and still offending people...I hate standing up while other ppl are in close proximity b/c I can smell it, so I KNOW they can!

Also, what is a good brand of "natural" soap to use to clean my V-jay-jay?

Vaginal odor issues
Sometimes its BV and sometimes it's just the way you smell. Some women have a chronic foul odor that they just can't get rid of. That usually comes from their gene pool so your stuck with that. There are a few men that really like a nasty stinking smell so if you are chronic smelling then find that rare man! Although most women have an odor and that "normal" odor is pleasing to most men. The normal odor should not be strong enough to call it gross. It does act like an attractant to men if it's a normal slightly musky smell. Some women have an abnormal amount of sweat glands located at the top of the clitoris area and down the sides as found at the armpits so when they sweat it will make the vagina smell really armpit foul. This is not rare but not common either but can be side dressed by a good fresh bath. Usually these women will always smell more musky than most - again that is a genetic pool. I once knew a family of sisters who all smelled really foul and nasty. When the mothers panties were whiffed everyone knew that was a bad gene pool pass down. On a postitvb
Worthy to note is that there is a big difference in some races too. Where most Caucasian type women have a low key odor a lot of true black women have very strong smelly vagina's - but not all! It's just a genetic thing. If you don't believe it just take a Caucasian that has been working outside all day along with an African heritage person doing the same. They will both stink but the African will have a much different stink that is usually offensive to most whites because its not a common odor to them. And most honest black men will tell you that black women stink worse than most whites - but not all. Bottom line: in most cases its all about your gene pool or you have a medical condition.

@beenthere55 probably in the narrow circle of honest black men you mix with have have bad experiences but with black women to make a reasoned comparison with white women. Or you have a warped understanding of mens honesty in general. Either way, of the actual black men I know none would disclose the scent of their women - of whichever colour - as they are gentlemen not gigolos!

Every woman smells different down there. My current bf calls one of his ex's ishy because she smelled like fish. Yeah that seems like a dick move and I feel sorry for her haha but he says I smell (and taste) really good. It just depends on the person.

Also, something that helped (and my bf noticed a difference without me telling him that I do this) is any citrus fruits. I started drinking like 3 cups of orange juice a day and it actually does make you smell/taste better. Before being sexually active I worried about all this stuff like you are, but now I realize that it's completely normal. You probably just think you smell weird, but guys I know love the smell.

Anyways I guess my only advice is to eat a bunch of citrus fruits and drink a bunch of citrus fruit juice. I've heard pineapples are especially good that, but I can't eat a straight pineapple and don't really like pineapple juice... Not to mention orange juice tastes better than water and has tons of vitamins (I'm not saying you should replace your water intake with citrus juices, just add on a couple glasses of them) Smile

I'm pretty sure that all us girls have a smelly vagina. I've heard things like, "why does my vagina smell like fish?" "Why does it smell like my period even though I'm not on it?" I am not sure if all girls vagina smells like that but it's probably just natural.

I hadthe same problem! I went to the doctor and asked what was wrong. He just told me that it was my natural scent. & if it bothers me so much ou can do this... After a shower get a blow dryer and put it on your vagina. Not too close. & I'd you have a "cooling" button, EVEN BETTER. by make sure you don burn yourself. That would deffinitly hurt. I've done it and it works! After my periods I used to smell someone gross down there, ever since I've done this method, I don't smell like anything anymore.. It works! (: hope I helped. I was sure relieved when I did it and didn't smell anything! But you probably shouldnt do that when your on our period, I don't think anyone wants dry blood around their vag. eeew:p try it after a shower! It really works!

They all smell!
What I want someone to say, and what everyone is thinking is... that vaginas smell. It's okay.. Mine does if I don't shower everyday.. It smells after like, 10 hrs. It's really a damn shame, I wish more women would admit it, so it would be more of a norm, and not so taboo. And... I have been checked for bacterial vaginosis.. Negatory.. Just nature, also, I'm a vegetarian.
